Lady Gaga’s Famous Hair Will Be Included In New Book

Lady Gaga is taking another step down a road previously paved by Madonna.  It was announced today that famed photographer Terry Richardson is putting together more than 350 photos taken of the Grammy Award winning singer since the Lolapalooza festival last August and the final “Monster Ball” shows on the tour this year.

Lady Gaga gave Richardson permission back in 2010 to shoot her in a myriad of situations.

The photos are being compiled into a book which showcases Lady Gaga’s life on the tour road and in her recording studio.  The book about the 25 year old pop star is being published by Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group.

While it certainly will be interesting to see the Monster queen on the road, it will be even more interesting to see how her hair looks in the various photos captured by Richardson who is a phenomenal photographer.  Lady Gaga is almost as famous for her constantly changing hair color, style, length and wigs as she is for her costumes, shoes, accessories.

Yesterday I received an AskKaren email about selecting a brand new hairstyle for Back To School from the nervous mom who was trying to help her daughter get ready for freshman year in high school.

After providing some hair suggestions the mom thanked me and said, if only you could provide other back to school stress busters.  Which got me to thinking.  What a great idea for a blog.

So what are some of the main back-to-school stressors for both moms and kids?  Experts have suggested that the fear of the unknown is the most stressful part of back to school.

It’s even more stressful when a child is entering a brand new school such as starting middle school or high school.

Listed below are some ways to minimize back to school stresses:

1.  Hair – Select easy to re-create styles that aren’t too drastic.

Avoid going with a dramatic makeover, especially close to the back-to-school date.  If the makeover goes seriously wrong or you can’t recreate the same magic at home as the stylist did in the salon you could be adding extra stress.  The best time to try out new hair styles, textures or lengths is at the beginning of the summer when you still have time to tweak the results into a workable routine. Katy Perry (aka Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson) has been the hottest It Girl for hair, fashion, beauty and shoes from the time she “Kissed a Girl” back in 2008.

The raven haired pop sensation has been setting off the world’s radar non-stop even before her album dropped.

Perry is adored for her quirky style, perky on-screen persona and Joan Jett inspired smoldering looks.  Her debut album, “One of the Boys” featured the naughty single “I Kissed a Girl” which shot to the top of the charts.

She’s been a continual presence on magazine covers like Nylon and Zink to the biggest and best of the fashion and beauty magazines such as appearing on the cover of Women’s Wear Daily.

The sassy singing sensation has been busy with photo spreads, party stops, Red Carpets, celebrity hosting events and more.  The Katy Perry frenzy only accelerated when she met now-husband Russell Brand on the set of “Get Him To The Greek”, started dating him and then went on a romantic trip to India.  The very public romance culminated in a picture perfect wedding in 2010. As a devoted celebrity hair watcher I usually tune into a wide range of both reality and traditional TV programs to eyeball the various hairstyles.  I always love to check out the tresses on the Real Housewives because they tend to showcase a range of styles from cute and edgy to over the top.

You would expect nothing but the most fabulous hair on The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills (RHBH) and if you tune it you will see lots of stunning styles.  Some are au natural like the long brunette tresses of Kyle Richards and some are obviously extended, but I’m not naming any names.

Recently I received a call from the rep of a well known celebrity hair stylist who will be releasing their new celebrity hair care line in 2011.  The rep wanted to know if I would be interested in selling the line on HairBoutique.com in our Marketplace.

After asking some questions about the ingredients, where the product is being manufactured and ultimate distribution channel goals I graciously passed on the opportunity.

Did I make a mistake?  Of course that’s always a possibility, but considering over the years I’ve tried a number of celebrity hair care lines which turned out to be a huge disappointment, I am very skeptical with any type of celebrity branded products.

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not against all celebrity hair care lines, but after personally trying just about every new brand, there are only a handful that I think are actually worth the sticker price and provide good quality hair care.
