Kate Winslet has been dominating the headlines lately due to her appearance on the March cover of British Vogue with platinum blonde tresses which initially appeared to be cut short.

Hair experts now believe Kate was coiffed to give the appearance of a short chop when in reality her hair was carefully compressed into a tight back twist with long strands brushed back from the sides and along the top.  There’s no arguing it was definitely a great way to create media buzz.

Showing up with darker blonde tresses the Oscar and Golden Globe winning actress rocked a trendy polka dot embellished frock at the premiere of HBO’s Mildred Pierce this week in New York.

Advance word on Mildred Pierce is that it’s a spectacular miniseries and Kate pulled out all her acting chops for the role.

Meanwhile the polka dot craze which was showcased at Oscar De La Renta’ Spring 2011 RTW Collection is being embraced by celebrities.

Sex And The City’s (SATC) Kristin Davis wore a sophistical strapless white flowing gown with black polka dots and a black bow belt in February 2011.  Kate’s polka dots were definitely a sexy translation of the catwalk craze.

While Kristen  went with a long flowing gown, Kate showed offer her killer curves with a peek-a-boo form fitting black dress.

Meanwhile other celebs have also been embracing polka dots.  Actress Izabella Miko showcased a short flirty polka dress on a recent Red Carpet (see below image).

Kate is also making more waves with her rumored dalliance with bad boy John Mayer now that’s she single again after her divorce.

Kate who’s 35 and John who’s 33 was featured in the March 28th issue of Star Magazine in the Love Bites column.  According to Star “Kate has been secretly spending time with (the) notorious ladies man.”

Last week on Friday (May 21, 2010) Ellen had a live phone call from Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP) to help promote the highly anticipated Sex And The City 2 premiere (SATC2) which happens this week.

I have to say SJP sounded great on the phone.  If the acting thing doesn’t work out for her she could always look into phone work.

Why was SJP phoning Ellen?  To talk about the movie, natch.

However, she did make small talk with Ellen asking about everyone in the show’s audience and discussing her son’s adoration for the talk show hostess.

SJP said Ellen’s audience “sounds very spirited” which resulted in major applause.  Ellen asked Sarah Jessica how her babies were doing.  SJP said “I’m well, the children are well, we had a sunny day in New York City, I had no complaints.  Everything is really swell.” Continue reading “Sarah Jessica Parker Phones It In On Ellen” »

Sarah Jessica Parker or SJP, as she is affectionally called by the media, is a prime example of of George Herbert’s famous quote which is “living well is the best revenge.”

The ultimate glamazon who ushered high fashion into the mainstream during her reign as Carrie Bradshaw on the famous Sex And The City (SATC) series, has definitely paid her dues in every area of her life.

To an unaware outsider Sarah Jessica’s charmed life might appear to be the result of good genes, timing and good fortune.  But this is definitely not the case.  And not by a long stretch.

The naturally curly haired actress, fashion icon and savvy business woman has endured years of poverty (her early life), being considered the ugly duckling with a strong female nerd side and lots of hounding by the papparrazzi.  She has also been the subject of untrue and unkind rumors about her personal life, working relationships on SATC and her marriage.  She was also labeled as “unsexy” by Maxim Magazine which she found “hurtful”.

Whether I have a form of ADD or am just obsessed with maximum multi-tasking, I never seem to focus my entire attention on one thing at a time.  Which can be a good/bad thing depending on a variety of factors.

Such is the case with Sex And The City (SATC).  Not the movie but the series.  When I recently joined the thongs pouring into the theaters (a few months ago) for the much anticipated movie, I realized I couldn’t remember a lot of the individaul episodes from the SATC series which lasted for 6 1/2 seasons.

I promised myself I would stop, go back and watch all of the SATC episodes from beginning to end.  With that ambitious quest in mind I recently stopped by a half price video store in North Texas and hit the DVD lottery.  They happened to be having a big sale and I was able to score seasons 1,3,4,5 and 6 for more than 60% off the original price of each season.  I already had Season 2 of SATC which I received as a past Christmas gift from my best friend Jeff Hines.
