A Cure For Hair Magazine Packratitis - Well Maybe!

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I have written about my packrat habits many times before but the subject keeps popping up, over and over again. I have learned to love my disease and cope with it.

Unfortunately the people around me are often horrified when they are thrust in the core of my packrat hell for the first time. Others try to adopt my coping mechanisms which includes total denial, learning to gingerly walk without tripping on exploding piles of hair, fashion & beauty related books, magazines, papers and CDs. Others just blatantly ignore the mess, never mentioning it to me for fear that I might ask them to help me clean it up.

Be Careful What You Wish For - Creating Written Operational Procedures

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

It’s 2:00 in the morning and I am still planted firmly in my best Feng Shui direction typing feverishly on my Notebook that has all the keys on the keyboard worn off. Good thing I’m a touch typist or I would be really screwed if I had to hunt and peck. Those typing classes at Bishop Du Bourg High School back in the old St. Louis high school days certainly came in handy. Actually, not to brag, but I came in at the top of my class for the final year type-off. We didn’t call it keyboarding like they do now…but I digress.

Why am I still up working? It seems like the more efficient I become the less efficient I become and the faster I work, the higher the piles get for me to try and conquer.

Karen Shelton’s HairBoutique.com Crew

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I am a huge fan of Entourage and am thrilled to read that Kevin Connelly is getting his own story line (good job Doug Ellin). In real life that would definitely happen. Members of the crew grow up and want to split away OR they turn to mush and get kicked out.

Recently I was hanging out in the waiting room of my Dallas haircolorist - Rose Zuniga (who rocks color like no one else I have been to). I was with my PA Lance who takes me a lot of places so I can answer phone calls and deal with business while he drives. There was an article in one of the magazines in the waiting room about the dynamics of business “crews” or “teams”. It was fascinating and while very obvious, I had never quite considered some of the points made about the inter workings of a crew. Lance definitely plays a big part in the crew and since he is my personal assistant it would strange if he wasn’t a key part.
