The always adorable Ginnifer Goodwin, 32, was on NBC’s Today Show on Saturday chatting about her new film “Something Borrowed” with Kate Hudson.

The actress showcased her iconic short choppy hairstyle which combines a hard edge around the perimeter and a soft fluffy heavily layered exterior.

Ginnifer’s dark brunette tresses are highlighted with small ribbons of soft caramel.  The top of her short choppy crop extends from a deep side part and is brushed over to one side creating lots of lush volume which lays in lots of layers over a side-swept fringe.

Although Ginnifer admits to wearing wigs for her acting roles, her short chop keeps getting shorter and choppier.

Big Love Questions

Before talking about the movie Lester Holt told Ginnifer “I have to get through my Big Love questions.  It’s over.”  Ginnifer agreed “It’s over.  I’m devastated, to be honest.”  Lester agreed “as a viewer I was too.”  Ginnifer “good, I mean it’s not good that you were devastated but I loved that job more than anything so I’m happy you enjoyed it.”

Lester “and it was fun watching over the years and watching your character grow.  Was it fun to grow that character?”   Ginnifer “It really was.  I always thought I had creative ADD and I needed to be in movies so I could jump from character to character but after being on “Big Love” I’m sold on television.  I got to dig my elbows in and really change with her.  Yeah.” Continue reading “Ginnifer Goodwin’s Hard Edged Short Chop Hairstyle” »

Kate Hudson was recently a guest on Ellen’s talk show looking chic in a high swingy ponytail.

Ellen dedicated the entire show to pregnant mothers and since Kate is very pregnant, due in July with her second child, she was a great celebrity guest.  Of course there are so many celebrities who are pregnant right now Ellen probably had her pick.

The actress was an appropriate choice because she has a new movie, Something Borrowed, which opened on Friday (5/6/11).

Dressed in a long sleeved, knee-length flowy gown with stunning heels, Kate’s blonde tresses were pulled back off her face, except for a few stray wisps and then pulled into a flirty long pony a few inches below her crown.

The California cool flirty pony bounced as she walked and talked.  The top of the ponytail looked like it had been slightly finger-raked to give it a very cool and tousled appeal.  The tail itself had been curled and loose ringlets were scattered throughout the length.

The bubbly blonde California girl revealed she is keeping the baby’s sex a surprise until delivery.  However, she told Ellen that she suspects it may be a girl.   Not only has the pregnancy been different than her first one with her son Ryder, but she said this baby “pushes down more.  It is way more active than Ryder”. Just a few days after the Royal Wedding where the bride and her maid of honor wore designs from the Alexander McQueen fashion house, the late designer and the current head of the line, Sarah Burton, was honored in New York.

The design industry gave their nod of approval to the McQueen bridal designs.

On Sunday night celebrities such as Madonna, Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayak, Beyonce, Kate Hudson and many others  graced the Red Carpet at New York’s Museum of Metropolitan Art for the annual Costume Institute Gala to honor the late Alexander McQueen’s contribution to fashion.   Madonna attended the ‘Alexander McQueen:  Savage Beauty’ with her manager Guy Oseary.

Madonna made an appearance in a silky teal blue decadent gown which featured glittery stars down the train. Her ’50s hair, red lips and complementary make-up also enhanced her golden Hollywood look.

Madonna told the media “I miss him.  I think he was a brilliant designer.”

Although McQueen committed suicide last year, the designs he left behind along with the new designs flowing from his fashion house are more popular than ever.  McQueen’s designs have been worn by First Lady Michelle Obama, Kate Moss and Rihanna.

The McQueen ‘Savage Beauty’ exhibit opens to the general public today (5/4/11).  It is the first retrospective of the designer’s gifts.

Actress Ginnifer Goodwin (Margene Heffman on HBO’s Big Love) has revealed to the media she requests using wigs rather than grow out her own short and edgy coif when an acting role requires a specific hairstyle.

Speaking recently to InStyle, the newly engaged actress, who recently unveiled a much shorter pixie style haircut with shaved sides, explained she struggles to retain her uniqueness and individuality when she’s forced to wear certain hairdos tied to whatever character she is playing.

Goodwin, who also talked to People.com said that Big Love (currently airing its final season) and HBO “owned every hair on [her] head,” and she was tired of having to consult with the show before making trips to the salon.

“I now have a wig clause written into every one of my contracts,” she said.

Goodwin explained “I find it hard to express myself when I’m growing out a very bad character haircut. As long as I can wear a wig, I can be any character [on the set] and in real life I can be myself.”

Bonnie Fuller of Hollywood Life recently pointed out that A-Listers like Jen Aniston, Kate Hudson and ice princess Julia Roberts need to get fan-friendly or reap their karma.  Amen to that.

It’s a brand new wired world out there where fans are socializing with their favorite vampires, reality stars and YouTube sensations on Twitter, Facebook and similar social networking sites.

Julia Roberts Failed To Deliver Big Numbers For Eat, Pray, Love

As Bonnie wisely notes, inaccessibility by movie stars could very easily translate to box office bombs.  Case in point? Reese Witherspoon’s How Do You Know only trickled in at $25 million, but the movie cost $120 million to make.

I personally wasn’t surprised when Julia Roberts didn’t blow the doors off the theaters with Eat, Pray, Love.  She is famous for running from some photographers or fighting with others, avoiding Red Carpet events like the plaque and being a virtual recluse.  Maybe the famous Scorpio (born October 28, 1967) has her privacy, but as Bonnie pointed out, Julia may not have her acting career much longer.
