Although HairBoutique.com’s business is focused more on hair and beauty lines, we do tip toe through the accessories world with our massive collection of hair accessories, small fashion items and some handbags.

Even though we never got into the big ticket “it” handbags, I have always watched their rise and fall from the sidelines.  I’ve also had a front row seat as the recession hit and the sales of those iconic bags (and related accessories) hit the skids. (more…)

New York–Renowned handbag designer and Holocaust survivor Judith Leiber and her husband, Gerson Leiber, received this week the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

Speaking to more than 150 people who attended FIT’s ninth annual Holocaust Commemoration, the Leibers told how they met on the war-torn streets of Budapest, survived under the Nazi and Russian occupations, and started their careers.

FIT President Dr. Joyce F. Brown presented the awards with Jeffrey Sussman, author of their biography, No Mere Bagatelles, who moderated the Q&A session following the talk.

I admit it, I am sometimes slow to get caught up with things.  Even though The Office has been a popular TV series on the air since 2005, I only got into the show in the Spring of 2009.

Which means I missed several seasons and didn’t really understand the hoopla about Pam (Jenna Fischer) and Jim (John Krasinki) and crazy Michael (Steve Carell).

Recently I was gifted with NetFlix streaming and the first thing I searched for was The Office, all the seasons.

I was amazed to discover that Amy Adams, looking incredibly cute, played Jim’s girlfriend for three epsiodes during 2005.  She first showed up at The Office to sell handbags in the episode “Hot Girl”. (more…)

Victoria Beckham is one of a handful of fashionistas who owns The Diamond Birkin hand bag which starts at $150,000.

Victoria loves these handbags so much she is known to have the largest collection of Birkin handbags in the world.

Besides her Diamond Birkin she also has several others ranging from $1,000 or more.

She was recently photographed carrying a Birkin designed by Jean Paul Gaultier which is a smaller version of her Diamond Birkin.  The Berkin Bag was first introduced in 1984 and has been hugely popular.

Although I have written about Victoria’s hair and her hairstyles, if I ever met the famous Posh I would ask to see her Birkin, not her highlights. (more…)

Hair accessories have many different classifications.

Lets start with the accessory category. Depending who you talk to, hair accessories are also sometimes referred to as hair jewels, hair jewelry or hair gems. In the fashion world, they are known as hair accessories and they fit in to the widely known category of accessories. Accessories as a main fashion category include sub categories. Depending on the designs, they will either specialize in one category or they may mix and match between categories.

Generally speaking, the classifications of accessories include (but are not strictly limited to)

Shoes
Belts
Footwear (hosiery, socks)
Handbags (wallets & keychains)
Jewelry (earrings, necklaces, cuffs, bracelets, rings)
Scarves & Related
Gloves
Hats, Headwear, Veils (May or may not be part of scarves)
Miscellaneous (eyeglasses, sunglasses, eyeglass holders, cell phone cases)

Depending on the manufacturer and their defined market, they may or may not cross lines. A great shoe make like Jimmy Choo sells shoes, handbags and related items. Other lines will be very exclusive and only carry one item in the accessory domain.
