Colorist to the stars, Rita Hazan, recently celebrated her three year anniversary  of the Rita Hazan Salon at a cocktail party.  The Rita Hazan is known in New York and to all celebrities in search of perfect hair color and style as a mecca of cool.

Although the salon is located at 5th Avenue and 56th street which is not necessarily hip, Rita describes her salon as “younger, more fashion-oriented.”

I remember chatting with Rita on the phone when she had a previous salon before her current location.  It seems like lifetimes ago but she was wonderful.  She made as much time as I needed and patiently answered all my questions.  She is charming and fun besides being an amazing hair colorist.

Many people that Rita is the most in-demand hair colorist in the States right now.  Her list of celebrities including long time client Jennifer Lopez includes Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow and the Simpson sisters, Jessica and Ashlee. (more…)

If you have ever watched an episode of MTV’s The Hills you know that until very recently the main star of the show was Lauren Conrad also known as L.C.

If you watch the show or know LC you also are aware of the fact the blonde California girl rocks beautiful blonde hair.

Since consumers often have misconceptions about haircolor, Wella wanted to find out what women are REALLY thinking when it comes to coloring their hair. Below, find out what myths turned out to be true - and which were off the mark.

Two years ago in 2007 British Harry Potter babe Emma Watson started to worry she was becoming too tied into the famous wizard films.

In short, the natural dark golden blonde tressed Hermione Granger was worried she would be forever typecast for her witchy role.

To branch out into new directs the gorgeous actress with naturally straight, medium thick strands signed to work with a modeling agency.

Recently I received an email about an article I had written about long hair informing me the author was obviously “clueless” about the topic.

Maybe I’m indeed clueless about long hair, but after having long hair (6″ below my waist and holding strong) since 1988 I think I have some insider’s knowledge of the topic.

Not to mention my experiences going to cosmetology school and writing over 3,000 articles about hair topics (consumer and professional) over the past 10+ years.

It should be noted the writer of the “you’re clueless about long hair” email was promoting their own hair website and letting me know I should be using their work instead of my own articles.  OK.  Well a little strange way to make a new friend, but whatever.

At any rate, the number one email I am receiving right now is about a wide range of home hair coloring disasters.  It is very frustrating to me because it’s impossible to really help someone with a hair color disaster via email, or even over the phone. (more…)
