How To Grow And Style Goatees

How To Grow And Style Goatees

How To Grow And Style Goatees Although considered a classic man facial hair trend, goatees come and go out of fashion like everything else in the hair world.

What Is A Goatee?

What is the true definition of a goatee? A classic goatee is a type of beard formed by a tuft of hair which grows on the chin.   Leonardo DiCaprio is a classic example of a celebrity who is a long time goatee wearer.

Some men wear only a goatee while others combine the goatee with a mustache which may or may not be connected by hair on each side of the lips forming a circle of hair.  Leonardo wears a combination of a goatee with a well-defined mustache, a small soul patch and a well-defined beard which creates a clear circle of hair.

There are variation on the classic goatee including a tiered goatee which has variable lengths of hair which create a multi-leveled beard.

A goatee may also be combined with or without a beard.  In fact, a man might wear a goatee along with a mustache and a beard for a full facial combination.  On the other hand, a Vandyke is a mustache and goatee, that may or may not be connected.

The Soul Patch

Another popular male facial hair look is a tuft of hair worn right under the lower lip.  This type of facial hair is known as a soul patch (sole patch, mouche, etc.,) and is not considered a type of goatee.  The soul patch, also known as a royale or impériale, can be worn completely alone or combined with a variety of other facial hair options. Reese Witherspoon’s Long Blonde Volume Infused Hair

Reese Witherspoons Lush Long Blonde Volume Infused Hair The always adorable Reese Witherspoon recently appeared on Ellen’s show to promote her newest movie How Do You Know with Luke Wilson, Paul Rudd and a great supporting cast.

Reese looked stunning in a cute flirty dress with a sweetheart neckline and her trademark buttery blonde tresses worn cascading from an off-center part down past her shoulders.  The roots were full and sleek.  Her hair literally shimmered under the stage lights and her smile was dazzling.

The actress showered Ellen with her homemade hot Holiday spice tea along with a silly little gift of dancing penguins.  Ellen reciprocated with a dancing Santa shaking his booty.

Reese talked about her ranch where she has a horse, some pigs, some chickens, a few goats and two recent additions of donkeys named Honky and Tonky.  Reese showed photos of the new donkeys and talked about how sweet they are.  Reese said “they’re really cute.”  She explained “they’re miniature donkeys they call donks.”

The actress said she feels having animals are “it’s so good for the kids to learn about animals and kindness and compassion.”  She said she “makes the kids clean the stalls” because it teaches them about responsibility.

Reese recently was honored with her star on Hollywood Boulevard and wins been kudos for her stunning blonde hairstyle. Continue reading “Reese Witherspoon’s Lush Long Blonde Volume Infused Hair” »

Madonna’s Hair Will Never Be Grandmother Blue

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

Madonnas Hair Will Never Be Grandmother BlueI’ve mentioned in the past that I’m currently in a period of transitional cleaning. Not only am I slowly digging through lots of old boxes of books, papers and magazines, I’m donating lots of clothes, shoes and other things which could take me over the edge from borderline hoarder into full blown reality hoarding TV star.

Yesterday I found a box full of magazines dedicated to Madonna and her various hairstyles. A Vanity Fair issue from 2000 had a fascinating article by Steven Daly titled Like An Artist. Daly’s ten year old article about the great songwriter, producer-performer and fashion designer is still appropriate for 2010.

What I always found compelling about Madonna was how Ms. Ciccone’s dramatic shape-shifting throughout her career has always included a major change to her hair. Indeed, Daly included a montage of 36 of the superstar’s many looks highlighted by her ever changing hair colors, lengths and textures. Whether you love her or hate her, you have to admit the star never got stuck in any one hairstyle. Continue reading “Madonna’s Hair Will Never Be Grandmother Blue” »

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

All Hair Straightening And Smoothing Options From Non Chemical To ChemicalDesired hairstyles, hair textures and hues rotate in and out of popularity depending upon a variety of factors ranging from emerging fashion, celebrity and entertainment trends.

After all, some of the most popular hairstyle trends in history were triggered on television including naturally wavy haired Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel haircut and Farrah Fawcett’s Angel wings.

And lets not forget the impact Victoria Beckham had with her recent short Pob, a cross between a Bob and a Pixie.

One hairstyle trend never seems to change and that’s the desire to have sleek straight shiny tresses which cascade down past the shoulders.

Since the majority of the population are not born with perfectly straight strands, the look requires some form of temporary (non-chemical), semi-permanent or permanent hair straightening.

Listed below are all of the current 2010 options with some of the advantages and disadvantages included.  These methods can be used by males and females of all races and ages, although some of the chemical solutions might not be acceptable for younger hair consumers.

Non-Chemical Straightening/Smoothing Options

There are several options to straighten hair with non-chemical solutions.  They all have unique advantage and disadvantages.  Only you can select the best options for your hair type, texture and current condition.

Listed below the currently available non-chemical options:

Traditional Blowout: The simplest way to achieve sleek strands is to combine styling products like straightening balms and defrisants, a round or paddle brush and a traditional blow dryer with a diffuser attachment.   This hair straightening method may not be the best technique for some types of curly hair, especially in humid, rainy or winding climates.
