‘Twitter Means Business’ by Julio Ojeda-Zapata

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

I recently blogged about my entry into the fascinating world of Twitter from my hair related perspective.  In that post I mentioned the importance of lurking or hanging back before jumping onto Twitter with both feet.  Even with some pre-Twitter research and careful thought, I still somehow managed to stumble and bumble along as I made obvious Twitter mishaps.

Once I realized there were lots of things about Twitter not readily obvious to me, I decided to do what I always do when I’m stumbling and bumbling.  I buy a book by a subject matter expert and try to suck up all the knowledge I can, as quickly as I can, before charging back in whatever fray my mind and/or body has wandered into.

Julio Ojeda-Zapata – Twitter Expert, Author, Pioneer

Julio Ojeda-Zapata is a Twitter expert and he has very recently written a book (first printing – November 14, 2008) on the subject titled ‘Twitter Means Business’.  As soon as I got wind of Julio’s very recent book release I started following him on Twitter and proceeded to order my copy online from Amazon.com.   It arrived licketedy split and I immediately locked myself away in a back HairBoutique office and read the book cover to cover.

The book is easy to read and a quick page turner.  Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything which sometimes happens when I try to read a book over a period of time.

Whew! Julio’s book instantly opened my eyes to some of my most recent Twitter faux pas.  After a few moments of retrospective blushing I vowed to do better now that I realized the error of my ways due to Julio’s clear and precise explanations. Hair Astrological Rulerships

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Hair Astrological RulershipsMy best friend Michael recently told me I stay focused on hair, business, astrology and Feng Shui. If anyone starts talking to me about anything else, he claims my eyes instantly glaze over and I zone right out.

Well I beg to differ. I do love talking about football (after all I live in Dallas, Texas), food, sports cars and anything related to fashion, shoes or hair accessories.

(Image to the side of The Rulership Book written by Rex Bills from Amazon.com).

Talk to me about grubworms in the garden, how to program the TIVO or other totally mind numbing topics and I agree that I tend to zone out. As I would expect anyone to do if they’re reading a topic they find a total zzzzzzz.

I also agreed I love talking about hair (duh) and astrology. What could be better than topics on hair and astrology? When they’re discussed together. Which is what I’m doing in this blog.

When discussing hair in astrological terms or when providing intrepretations it’s important to have a complete understanding of the rulerships and correlations assigned to various hair terms.

Why would anyone care about astrological rulerships of hair? If you’re not interested in astrology, you probably won’t care at all. However, if you are into the stars, understanding rulerships provide additional levels of insight into a natal, progressed or transit chart.

Astrological rulerships also play a major role in electional and horary charts. Continue reading “Hair Astrological Rulerships” »

Be Careful What You Wish For – Creating Written Operational Procedures

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

It’s 2:00 in the morning and I am still planted firmly in my best Feng Shui direction typing feverishly on my Notebook that has all the keys on the keyboard worn off. Good thing I’m a touch typist or I would be really screwed if I had to hunt and peck. Those typing classes at Bishop Du Bourg High School back in the old St. Louis high school days certainly came in handy. Actually, not to brag, but I came in at the top of my class for the final year type-off. We didn’t call it keyboarding like they do now…but I digress.

Why am I still up working? It seems like the more efficient I become the less efficient I become and the faster I work, the higher the piles get for me to try and conquer.

Better Business Bureau Blackmail

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Certainly if you’re in business, the title – Better Business Bureau Blackmail – got your attention. It’s the addition of the last B to the famous BBB that is of key significance.

Contrary to a long held consumer myths, threatening to call in the BBB, as they are known, when the consumer is not getting their way with a business, does not actually work. If anything, it will probably backfire in a number of ways.

It’s Not Personal – It’s Business

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Yes I agree that to be successful in business you have to make a lot of difficult decisions on a daily, if not, hourly basis.

Those “hard decisions” include terminating the kid you really like who is bright and shows so much promise but can’t seem to ever get to work on time, puts baking cookies with his family at Christmas over coming to work for the Holiday sales crunch and finally pushes you to the brink by forging a doctor’s note so he can call in sick when he’s really not.

Another difficult decision involves trying to be polite to a prospective vendor who is selling the most horrible looking headbands in unbelievably unattractive colors. I never want to be intentionally rude, disrespectful or unkind, so I always decline the opportunity to tie up my limited funds in a probable slow mover by saying I don’t have the budget. Which I don’t – at least not for a guaranteed deadbeat product line.
