Utilizing A Curl-Loving Cut With Braid Setting Technique

Wavy Hair Summer Time How To

Wavy Hair Summer Time How To
Wavy Hair Summer Hair How To

While some people think being born with naturally tousled wavy beach-ready style is a breeze, wavy hair has it’s challenges. Wavy hair can misbehave at any time of the year, but even more so in the Summer months.

Heat and humidity can cause hair to fall flat, experience various forms of frizz and increase in natural dryness.

The Challenge Of Wavy Hair Shape

In some ways wavy hair is like curly hair. Why? Like curly hair, the cuticle of wavy hair doesn’t completely close which means that much needed moisture may be lost which results in natural dryness. During summer months when moisture evaporates faster due to the heat, it’s important to start with more hydration than other types of the year. It’s also important to constantly replenish moisture as it’s lost.

Wavy Hair How To Tips In Summer

The key is to keep waves properly hydrated without overdoing it so that hair becomes overly moisturized. Can that really happen? Yes, and when it does waves are weighed down and not able to form properly.

Also, overly moisturized hair may actually develop a unique form or frizziness from too much product. The key is to find a perfect balance. Continue reading “Wavy Hair Summer Time How To” »

Summer Hairstyles That Rule

Friday, June 10th, 2011

Summer Hairstyles That Rule When you’re hot and sticky from spending a day at the beach the last thing you want to do is head for a hot shower and time with your hot hair tools.  Instead, opt for cute hairstyles which are easy yet chic.

What hairstyles rule for summer?  Check out some of the options below:

1.  Ponytails Reign

During the hot days of summer, there’s no question that the ponytail will reign.  It keeps hot and heavy hair off your neck, shows off your beautiful accessories such as earrings or necklace and is flirty to boot.

If you’re bored with the same old pony then amp it up.  Add a little sass by pumping up fullness at the crown to create an interesting profile.  Update your pony in other ways such as adding a cute ponytail wrap or crystal encrusted cuff.  If you’re feeling creative add a single braid along the hairline.

Ponytails can work on every type, texture and most hair lengths from thin and fine to thick and bone straight to naturally curly.

2.  Braids Are Beautiful

And speaking of braids.  They’re another go-to hairstyle for hot sticky months.  Braids can be worn off to one side, slung low at the nape area or added to an existing pony.  There are no rules when it comes to braids.  Play with a French braid or traditional 3-strand braid.  Anyone with hair long enough to braid can look cool as a cucumber with a plait. Combining Hair Processes

Combining Hair ProcessesAlthough Rihanna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera appear to have picture-perfect tresses which appear to combine multiple chemical processes, the reality is that most of these divas wear wigs.

Some, but not all, of the divas and/or their celebrity hair gurus have admitted their use of custom made wigs to combine brilliant color with stick straight strands.

More Info: Chemical Hair Straightening Faqs

Unless us mere mortals have access to the cream of the celebrity hair crop who can create spectacular hair hues and textures, it is never advisable to actually combine hair color with other chemicals.

Yes, if you search you may find hairstylists who say its okay to color and then chemically alter the texture.  But the reality is that most hair experts strongly advise against combining bleaching, coloring, relaxing or chemical straightening.

Even more damaging would be to add weaves on top of hair which is first colored and chemically straightened. Continue reading “Combining Hair Processes” »
