New York, July 7, 2009 - Iconix Brand Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ICON) announced today it will continue its partnership with international icon, Britney Spears for its Candie’s brand, which is exclusively sold at Kohl’s Department Stores (NYSE: KSS).

Britney, who is one of the bestselling female recording artists in the world, will appear in Candie’s fall 2009 television, print, online and in-store advertising campaign.

Spears recently appeared in the junior brand’s spring print and online marketing campaign, which launched with a full size, limited edition, pull-out poster.

Leveraging its partnership with the international mega-star, Candie’s outfitted Spears for her new music video, “Radar” and will use footage from the music video for its fall television commercial. (more…)

One of the first lessons I learned when opening the HairBoutique.com Marketplace was that what one customer finds charming, quaint and beautiful will cause another customer to scream foul. Why? The retail world is composed of millions of customers with a variety of tastes.

In the early days of HairBoutique.com the word “Internet” when used to describe any type of business was a bad word in many industries.

Since my chosen industries included fashion, accessories, beauty and hair products, I struggled with getting manufacturers, wholesalers, jobbers and third party reps to take HairBoutique.com’s Marketplace seriously. Afterall, were selling on the “Internet”. (more…)

Spoiler Alert - If you haven’t seem the movie yet…you may not want to read any futher…although I promise to try and keep any spoiler to a minimum.

Yes, I was there. One of the hordes of women sprinkled with a few men, who showed up for the very first showing of the SATC movie. The first time available was 10:15 and there I was waiting patiently in line to buy my ticket at 10:00 am sharp.

By 10:10 I was in the very packed theater (Friday at 10:00 am and the theater is packed? Can you only imagine as the day goes on what the crowds will be like?) waiting patiently for sooooooo many previews to finish playing.

Hair accessories have many different classifications.

Lets start with the accessory category. Depending who you talk to, hair accessories are also sometimes referred to as hair jewels, hair jewelry or hair gems. In the fashion world, they are known as hair accessories and they fit in to the widely known category of accessories. Accessories as a main fashion category include sub categories. Depending on the designs, they will either specialize in one category or they may mix and match between categories.

Generally speaking, the classifications of accessories include (but are not strictly limited to)

Shoes
Belts
Footwear (hosiery, socks)
Handbags (wallets & keychains)
Jewelry (earrings, necklaces, cuffs, bracelets, rings)
Scarves & Related
Gloves
Hats, Headwear, Veils (May or may not be part of scarves)
Miscellaneous (eyeglasses, sunglasses, eyeglass holders, cell phone cases)

Depending on the manufacturer and their defined market, they may or may not cross lines. A great shoe make like Jimmy Choo sells shoes, handbags and related items. Other lines will be very exclusive and only carry one item in the accessory domain.
