I had the pleasure of meeting Janine Jarman some years ago at the point in her career when she was just opening her amazing Hairroin Salon.  Since that time I have watched Janine grow into a world class celebrity and high fashion hairdresser.

It’s almost as if Janine was a rare flower and I have had the special privilege of watching her blossom over the years.

I was so thrilled when I heard Janine was going to be on Shear Genius 3.

While I’ve watch Shear Genius 1 and 2, I was not nearly as obsessed with every little detail as I am for Shear Genius 3.  Maybe because I’m rooting for Janine to win.

Imagine my glee when Janine swept both the Shortcut Challenge and the Elimination Challenge on the seventh episode.

Janine started with a bang when she took an African American model and designed a spectacular custom updo for her.  Not only did Janine do any amazing job of creating a winning hairstyle, she won high praise from guest judge, Kimberly Kimble.   Although Brian came in second, Janine’s hairstyle was so brilliant, Brian wasn’t even a close second. Does winning an Oscar for Best Actress bring a marital curse?  First there was talk that Kate Winslet and her husband were divorcing and now there is the news that recent Oscar winner Sandra Bullock’s husband, Jesse James, has publicly admitted to involvement with another woman although he does not admit to an affair.

West Coast Choppers CEO, Jesse James. told People magazine he used “poor judgment” and asked his family to “forgive me.”

Jesse’s apology follows recent claims from tattoo model Michelle “Bombshell” McGee that she allegedly had a year-long affair with the Monster Truck man while the beautiful Sandra was on location making “The Blind Side.”  Ms. McGee has told the media she has the sex filled text messages to prove all of her claims against Mr. James.

According to the NY Daily News, the texts are now in the hands of a weekly tabloid.  According to reports, some of the texts are dated as recently as March 14 which is mere days after Sandra won her Best Actress Oscar with her proud husband by her side.  (more…)

If you’re like me you start to forget who won what during each of the competitions on Shear Genius 3.  I also forget the guest judges which rotate through every like crazy.

Sometimes the guest judges will judge only one of the challenges.  Other times they will judge both.  It appears that the guest judges were selected based on their particular expertise in the hair world.

Listed below is my cheat sheet for the first seven episodes of Shear Genius 3.

Episode One - A Risque Runway

Shortcut Challenge - Punk To Polished
Goal:  Makeover Punk Hair Models to Sleek, Polished And Finished
Judge:  Jonathan Antin (permanent judge for all Elimination Challenges)
Winner of Challenge:  Amy - Transformed head of dreadlocks into sleek asymmetrical cut
Top 3 Contestants - Amy, Giacommo, Arzo
Bottom 3 Constants - Janine (bad bob), Faatemah and Brian

Elimination Challenge:  L Space Swimsuit Hairstyle Competition
Goal:  Design Hairstyle Which Covered Model’s Breasts While Drawing Attention To Bikini Bottom
Guest Judge:  L Space Swimwear Designer
Judges:  Jonathan Antin, Kim Vo, Camilla Alves
Winner of Challenge:  Janine - Gorgeous blonde sea nymph
Top 3 Contestants - Janine, Brig, April

Episode 7 of Shear Genius 3 picked up the pace with lots of thrills and chills.  There were two guest judges, celebrity hairdresser Kim Kimble and singer Estelle.  There was more filming behind the scenes at the SG3 contestants lodging and Brig’s fangs became even more visible.

The Shortcut Challenge involved African American models who recently graduated from high school.  The challenge was dealing with styling African American hair for formal events.

The guest judge was celebrity hairdresser Kimberly Kimble who is hairdresser to Beyonce and Mary J. Blige.  I have interviewed Kimberly in the past and she is a doll.  Very knowledgeable, but a great lady.

The remaining contestants included Janine, Matthew, Jon, Brian and the evil orange haired Brig. Although Janine, Matthew, Jon and Brian all seem to get along well, Brig doesn’t seem to get along with anyone now that Amy is gone.

Brig has made it clear it’s her against Janine and Matthew who appear to be on the fast track to winning.  Jon and Brian have had successes but not compared to Janine and Matthew.

For the African American Short Cut challenge Janine told the camera “I’m super experienced with African American hair.  I’m used to the texture.  I did Lil Kim’s hair for awhile, I’m confident going into this.” (more…)

Ariana Grande is making a splash with her career.  The 16 year old performer will be appearing at the 2010 Kids Choice Awards on March 27, 2010.  The Kids Choice Awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles, California at 8PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon.

As always the Kids Choice Awards will include slimming.

Ariana has told the media, “I’m going to be performing with the Penguins of Madagascar live in the ultimate dance smackdown. Everyone has to vote, because it’s in the moment and live; When you see me, the penguins, Robbie and Gage, you have to vote. There are two other teams and we’re up for a blimp. I want to win a blimp!”
