Celeb Hairdresser Henry Amador - Best Gray Hair Advice

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Although my arrival in the blogging world started a few years ago with my Hollywood & Mane column for DailyCeleb.com, I have been writing articles about hair since 1997 for HairBoutique.com and MultiMedia International publications (101 Celebrity Hairstyles, Short Cuts, Hair Gallery, etc.,)

Over the past 11 years I have spent a lot of time interviewing hairdressers, hair colorists and beauty experts about a wide range of hair and beauty related challenges.  I also went to two different cosmetology schools (which I loved) in order to deepen my knowledge of the professional hair business.

I honestly worry about giving hair consumers incorrect information.  Henry has been one of the amazing professional haircolorists who is always willing to take my calls and help me with any hair color related questions. (more…)

Best New Year’s Eve Party Hairstyles

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

When it comes to selecting your sizzling New Year’s Eve Party Hairdo, start with your goals for the evening. Do you want to look hot for your current honey to knock their socks off or do you want to attract a new honey for the new year?

Are you interested in just having fun with your loved ones, friends and posse? If that’s the case you may want to look hot but with limited muss and fuss.

After all, New Year’s Eve brings all sorts of hair hazards from all the glitter and streamer dust which hits the air around midnight, not to mention the danger of splashing drinks and fallout from overindulgers.

If you want to look sizzling hot but be able to have fun at the same time, select a party do which is similar to your normal style, just crank it up a little bit.

My favorite sizzling but low maintenance hairstyles involve anything tousled. When you’re at a party the last thing you want to worry about is keeping every hair in place.

A good hair day can turn bad in an instant with all the party fun. Why not select a sassy hairstyle with attitude that can hold it’s own in any crowd?

Listed below are a few of my fav bullet proof New Year’s Eve Hairstyles for all hair types, textures and lengths: (more…)

Ponytails: Pony Base Attachments Options

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

The classic ponytail which has been around since the beginning of time - or least as long as humans could figure out how to tie their hair back - involves pulling all of the hair on the head into a centralized location on the head.

The base of the ponytail can actually be located in a number of locations on the head ranging from the front near the hairline all the way down to the very nape of the neck.

Once the hair has been gathered into a “tail” the ponytail is tied off creating a base from which all the hair cascades out.

A ponytail consists of a base, which is attached to the scalp and a tail.  If the natural hair is not long enough to form a natural ponytail, add-on hair can be attached to form a ponytail.  Clip-on ponytails are pre-formed ponytails which can be clipped onto the head creating and instant pony. Prom Hair - Emergency Fixes

Monday, December 1st, 2008

You know how it goes, no matter how hard you plan your Prom hairstyle, things may still go awry.

Listed below are some tricks to get you through the last minute Prom Hair Crazies with ease:

1. You decided at the last minute to touch up your hair color only to discover some of the dye got on your face or skin.

What to do?

Reach for the toothpaste and and apply to the dye spots. Rub and rinse until the dye is completely gone. Toothpaste is abrasive enough to do the job but won’t dry our your complexion.

2. You spent hours washing, blow drying, hot curling and fixing your hair into your dream Prom Hairstyle only to watch the curls droop in less than an hour.

What to do?

Go ahead and create your dream hairdo but once you have it exactly the way you love it, carefully divide your hair into either individual curls (if you want to wear your hair down) or sections 2 1/2″ thick and wrap the curls around your finger and then pin up against your scalp. Spritz with hairspray and wait until you are ready for the photos before unpinning. This will help curls hold their shape much longer. (more…)
