Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Colorist to the stars, Rita Hazan, recently celebrated her three year anniversary  of the Rita Hazan Salon at a cocktail party.  The Rita Hazan is known in New York and to all celebrities in search of perfect hair color and style as a mecca of cool.

Although the salon is located at 5th Avenue and 56th street which is not necessarily hip, Rita describes her salon as “younger, more fashion-oriented.”

I remember chatting with Rita on the phone when she had a previous salon before her current location.  It seems like lifetimes ago but she was wonderful.  She made as much time as I needed and patiently answered all my questions.  She is charming and fun besides being an amazing hair colorist.

Many people that Rita is the most in-demand hair colorist in the States right now.  Her list of celebrities including long time client Jennifer Lopez includes Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow and the Simpson sisters, Jessica and Ashlee. (more…)

Hair styles for curly haired Taylor Swift

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Curly haired Taylor Swift took home an armload of Country Music Association (CMA) awards this week.  Not only did the blonde curly haired beauty sweep the CMAs, she did so in front of the largest audience the CMA Awards show has seen in four years.

Reuters.com reported  “the three-hour show averaged 16.8 million viewers for ABC on Wednesday, up from 15.9 million last year. It marks the highest score since 2005, when 17.7 million people tuned in to the CBS broadcast.”

Of course it doesn’t hurt that the CMA was packed with fan favorites but of course Taylor Swift couldn’t get any hotter if you set her on fire.  Besides having a smokin hot beau by the name of Taylor Lautner who also happens to be co-starring in the New Moon film from the Twilight franchise.  The word is that the two are definitely a couple.

The 19 year old singing sensation took home awards for “Best Female Vocalist,” “Album of the Year,” and “Music Video of the Year.”   She also was the youngest person ever to win the title of “Entertainer of the Year.” (more…)

George Papanikolas Celebrity Haircolor Guru

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

George Papanikolas is fast becoming one of the hottest and most sought after colorists in Hollywood.

Papanikolas’ signature highlighting style has caught the attention of Southern California’s most discerning clientele, with young, hot Hollywood turning to this man to change their look.

Stars like Britney Spears, Hayden Panettiere, Megan Fox, Mila Kunis, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Minka Kelly are already fans. Using the French, freehand technique called “balayage,” he creates natural-looking, sun-kissed color that looks, as George says, “like you’ve spent a summer at the beach, not three hours in the salon.”

High fashion blondes love the “rooty,” high contrast designs which were inspired by the likes of Gisele Bundchen and Sarah Jessica Parker. (more…)

How To Create 1940s Pompadour Or Similar Hairline Hair Bump

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Hairstyles follow fashion and Tracy Reese’s 2010 Runway Show displayed a messy, new-age version of a 1940s classic pompadour sure to show up on Red Carpets and fashion shoots in 2010.  The pompadour label has long been replaced by the 2009 hair bump tag.

Key hair stylist for the show, Jeanie Siphu told the fashion media she created the big hair masterpiece by laying a series of three different ponytails from the front of the hairline towards the back of head.

Although the front of the hair was airy and beautifully backcombed, from the crown down the hair was worn sleek and chic.  The bottom of the hairdo was finished off in a coiled knot or twist.  Although the new-age hair bump was a take-off of the 1940s pompadour the hairdo was messy.

In fact, in the October 19th episode (Episode 905) of 2009 Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) Lacey Schwimmer had a similar pompadour hairstyle similar to the hair bump shown off in the Tracey Reese show.

How To Copy The 2009 Messy Pompadour

This hairstyle is best re-created on medium to thick hair that is naturally straight or slightly wavy.

If you prefer not to backcomb your hair you can clip-in one or two bangs which you have pre-teased and use them for the front bump.  Or you can pin the bangs under a layer of top hair.

Another option includes using a hair ratt. (more…)

1.  Comfort Is Key - Select a hair length and style that is fun, easy to maintain and makes you feel great about yourself.  It’s important you enjoy your hair.  Love how you wear your hair and enjoy it.  Wear it for you and no one else.
