Now your professional hairdresser can protect your eyes, mouth, face and neck when you visit the salon with Pro-Tech’s revolutionary new face shields.

Owned and operated by Christian Colbert, a creative spirit with over 20 years of salon and styling experience, Pro-Tech face shields are his invention.

Nowadays he is a partner stylist with a trendsetting salon in Dallas, Texas. In addition to being passionate about his clients, he’s just as driven by his Pro-Tech Products.

Leonor Greyl’s Huile De Palme - Tips For Maximum Benefit

Friday, November 6th, 2009

When I started HairBoutique back in 1996-1997 I promised myself I would continue to try all the products that HairBoutique.com sells in their Marketplace.  With that promise in mind I recently did some user testing of Leonor Greyl’s fabulous Huile De Palme.

(Image of Leonor Greyl’s  Huile De Palme - Courtesy of HairBoutique.com and Leonor Greyl - All Rights Reserved).

HairBoutique.com has been carrying the complete Leonor Greyl line for some years now but I tend to get lazy and not want to swap out from my regulars that I have been rotating through for many years which are cherry picked from Phyto, Rene Furterer, JF Lazartique, Paul Mitchell and L’Oreal.

Yes, there is a recession right now and I am watching my pennies like almost everyone else but because my own hair is naturally wavy/curly and naturally dry, I have been diluting or Conditioning Only (CO) washing my hair for many years now.

I also do regular oil treatments but when one of my faves was discontinued I decided to create my own - HairTopia oil - which I used on a daily basis alternating the oil with the mist.  I love jojoba oil for my hair but it is not for all hair types and textures.

Which brings me to the Leonor Greyl Huile De Palme.  I love all the Leonor Greyl packaging because it is clean and pristine.  Even before Gwen Stefani the No Doubt group made Leonor Greyl product line their hair care of choice for their 2009-2010 concert tour, I loved the company, their customer care and the results the product delivers. Raquel Welch Named In Top 25 Sexiest Women In Film Of All Time By GQ Magazine

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Last November Raquel Welch was included in the list of the 25 sexiest women in film of all time by gentleman’s magazine, GQ.

No surprise there.  Many fans as well as beauty and fashion critics agree Raquel is still sizzling hot in her 60s.

Even though Raquel was born September 5, 1940, she is still considered gorgeous, looking decades younger than her biological age.

In the GQ article Raquel was quoted as saying “I didn’t realize it then, but the way I looked was a real departure from the previous pre-eminent sex symbol, who was Marilyn Monroe.”

(Image of Raquel Welch - HairUWear - All Rights Reserved - A complete line of Raquel Welch wigs are available at HairBoutique.com in the Marketplace.)

Note: Stop by and visit our Raquel Welch HairUWear wig gallery at HairBoutique.com.

The original body, as she was called back at the height of her fame, also said “that was such a different image…I was this outdoorsy, bronzed athletic body…and people picked up on that change.” (more…)

Twilight’s Ashley Green Gets Hair Extensions For Longer, Softer Hairstyle

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

As reported by E Online and the fabulous Ted Casablanca, actress Ashley Green has gone with much longer hair extensions to totally change up her look.

Ashley who is one of the “Twilight girls” has been creating lots of media buzz as a result of her new found fame as one of Edward’s vampire “sisters”.

(Image of Ashley Green - 08-08-09 at DoSomething.org’s ‘The Power of Youth’ Gala - DailyCeleb.com - All Rights Reserved).

In the books it’s Ashley (Alice Cullen) who befriends the bewildered Bella. Fans of the book series initially attacked Ashley for being too tall and having too much hair to play the part of Alice.

Even though Ashley stood out for her character’s short pixie choppy haircut, which made hair news when the first Twilight movie was released, some fans still thought it wasn’t short enough, which Ashley addressed at the time.

I personally thought Ashley had an edgy look compared to the other female vampires. Whether it was too short or not….who really cares? Seriously.

As reported by E Online Ashley has been very recently spotted with much longer tresses (to the middle of her back) applied to her natural length by hairdresser Essly Powel who is based in Los Angeles at the Parlour on 3rd. Essly created Ashley’s new hair look with long semi-perm fusion style hair extensions. (more…)

Barbara Lhotan Talks Naturally Curly Fringes

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Some curly hair experts and girls disagree about the appropriateness of forehead fringes worn on the curl endowed. However, if you dream of having a well mannered fringe, curl expert Barbara Lhotan offers tips from her curly hair client bag of tricks.

(Image of Sophina Brown from CBS Numbers - All Rights Reserved)

According to Barbara, who practices her curl magic by traveling to select salons in Dallas, New York and Washington, DC the biggest mistake curly girls make when trying out a fringe is going way too short. Barbara explained “curly hair can be cut into a forehead fringe when the section is long, side-swept and appropriately layered.”

When the bangs are “cut too short, they will naturally shrink and creep up towards the hairline. When the bangs are longer, they’ll likely shrink less and can be finger styled to merge seamlessly with the rest of the curls.”

I pressed Barbara for more details about her naturally curly bang secrets. She explained she has “several curly girls as clients who understand “fringes aren’t easy to create and manage on their hair textures” but Barbara has “figured out some methods to create unique fringes for them.” (more…)
