When I started HairBoutique back in 1996-1997 I promised myself I would continue to try all the products that HairBoutique.com sells in their Marketplace.  With that promise in mind I recently did some user testing of Leonor Greyl’s fabulous Huile De Palme.

HairBoutique.com has been carrying the complete Leonor Greyl line for some years now but I tend to get lazy and not want to swap out from my regulars that I have been rotating through for many years which are cherry picked from Phyto, Rene Furterer, JF Lazartique, Paul Mitchell and L’Oreal.

Yes, there is a recession right now and I am watching my pennies like almost everyone else but because my own hair is naturally wavy/curly and naturally dry, I have been diluting or Conditioning Only (CO) washing my hair for many years now.

I also do regular oil treatments but when one of my faves was discontinued I decided to create my own - HairTopia oil - which I used on a daily basis alternating the oil with the mist.  I love jojoba oil for my hair but it is not for all hair types and textures.

Which brings me to the Leonor Greyl Huile De Palme.  I love all the Leonor Greyl packaging because it is clean and pristine.  Even before Gwen Stefani the No Doubt group made Leonor Greyl product line their hair care of choice for their 2009-2010 concert tour, I loved the company, their customer care and the results the product delivers. A gorgeous Arielle Kebbel made a surprise appearance on CW’s hit show, The Vampire Diaries, wearing a below-the-waist long blonde tresses.

Arielle was playing a 300 year young female vampire, Lexi, whose best friend is Stefan (Paul Wesley).  It’s made clear that Lexi and Stefan are just friends with absolutely no romantic entanglements.

It’s also obvious that Lexi is very powerful and doesn’t like Stefan’s evil brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder).  The feeling between Lexi and Damon is mutual.  Neither likes the other much at all.

Lexi not only pops in to see her best friend, she is also in town “for one night only” to celebrate Stefan’s 162nd birthday.   Of course the title of the edgy episode is “162 Candles” to go along with the birthday theme. (more…)

Katee Sackhoff appeared at the recent Fox 2009 All Star party wearing her long flaxen blonde tresses glammed up with layers of soft flirty curls.

For fans of Katee Sackhoff you may know she loves to wear her hair longer.  In fact, when she signed to play Sarah Corbison the now defunct Bionic Woman she was thrilled because she could wear her hair long.

At the same time she was starting Bionic Women she was in secret talks to return as Starbuck for the fourth and last season of Battlestar.

Katee only real concern about returning from presumed death as Starbuck?  That they would make her cut her hair.  For the majority of her run on Battlestar her character had chin length hair while Katee loves her hair long and lush.  (more…)

If you’ve been reading my blogs, Tweets and articles at HairBoutique.com since the mid 1990s you know that I abhor any type of hair prejudice whether it be based on hair texture, hair length, hair type, color or any other hair issues.

I also don’t like to put anyone in a “hair box” based on their age, whether they are struggling with their hair (hair loss or other hair issues) or not.

I believe that every man, woman and child on this planet has their own unique inner and outer beauty with their tresses comprising just one part of the big picture of who they are.

In addition I believe that no one should ever judge you on your hair.  Yes, it happens but hopefully we can change that attitude in the short term.  (more…)

Melissa Sagemiller’s Hairstyle - Smooth, Sleek Half Up/Half Down Hairstyle

Melissa Sagemiller plays attorney Michelle Ernhardt who is a protege to the current district attorney Nick Balco (Currie Graham) on TNT’s Raising The Bar by Steven Bochco’s son Jesse.

Some critics have compared the beautiful blonde Melissa as a cross between Katherine Heigl and Rachel Nichols.

The actress rocks a light golden base with darker golden low lights and lighter baby blonde highlights.  Her tresses look healthy and shiny.

Even better, her hair color follows the current trend of softly fading from slightly darker roots to lighter ends as the strands flows from the top of her head to the ends.

This hairstyle is easier to create on slightly “aged” hair which means not newly washed.  If you want to create this hairstyle on newly washed hair be sure to prep it well with pre-styling hairspray or a hair cream like the following:
