Hairstyles That Draw Attention To Eyes

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Do you have gorgeous eyes and want them to pop?

Why not work with your favorite hairdresser to create a haircut or hairstyle designed specifically to amp up your gorgeous peepers?

Listed below are some haircuts and hairstyles which will draw attention to your eyes:

1.  Short pixie, cap or crop like those worn by Victoria “Posh Spice” with strategic layers and short or super “baby” bangs. With a short cut like this your eyes will be the center of attention.

2.  A medium length bob like the one worn by Jenny McCarthy with hair side-swept and worn sleekly to one side with a panel of hair appearing to create an “arrow” along the temple directly other eyes down right towards the eyes.  Jenny also wears this hairstyle with brow-skimming heavy bangs.

Either type of Jenny McCarthy style “frames” the face and draws instant attention to the eyes and brows.

3.  Below the chin layered shag with layers cut strategically to draw attention up from the chin towards the eyes and sleek side-swept bangs.

4. Medium or shoulder length hairstyles with texturized and layered bangs and lots of fullness along the crown.  When the hairstyle has volume right behind the hairline it will draw attention “up” the face and towards the eyes. (more…)

Celeb Hairdresser Henry Amador - Best Gray Hair Advice

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Although my arrival in the blogging world started a few years ago with my Hollywood & Mane column for DailyCeleb.com, I have been writing articles about hair since 1997 for HairBoutique.com and MultiMedia International publications (101 Celebrity Hairstyles, Short Cuts, Hair Gallery, etc.,)

Over the past 11 years I have spent a lot of time interviewing hairdressers, hair colorists and beauty experts about a wide range of hair and beauty related challenges.  I also went to two different cosmetology schools (which I loved) in order to deepen my knowledge of the professional hair business.

I honestly worry about giving hair consumers incorrect information.  Henry has been one of the amazing professional haircolorists who is always willing to take my calls and help me with any hair color related questions. (more…)

Jenny McCarthy’s Big Blonde Hairstyle

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

The always lovely and almost always blonde Jenny McCarthy dazzled on the arm of long time beau Jim Carrey at his Yes Man Premiere.  The Warner Brothers film event was held at the Mann Village Therater in Westwood.

One of the hottest trends for celebrities (as well as hair consumers) right now is big hair.  Jenny’s normally sleek and silky chin length bob was transformed into a large and very lush confection of shimmering platinum blonde perfection.

Jenny’s tresses were backcombed into an off-the-face hairstyle with lots of bouncy curls and waves splashed throughout the perimeter and cascading from a deep side part with a tightly curly side-swept fringe.

Her white blonde strands showcased her beautiful face and expert make-up.

Although Jenny’s Yes Man hairstyle was a major departure from her normal bob, the funny lady is famous for switching things up when it comes to her strands.  When she and Jim attended the nuptials of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise she stunned the hair watching world with a white blonde pageboy inspired hairdo which was reminiscent of the 50s.

Will Jenny keep this hairstyle for the near future?  With Jenny anything’s possible.

What do you think?  Do you love Jenny’s big blonde do or not?

Hair Highlights, Flying Rocks, Boulders & Refrigerator Boxes

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Today started off like every other day.  I rendezvoused with my Marketing Manager (aka MM) at our fav Starbucks where my very favorite barrista - Eric - had my Venti Decaf Coffee of the Day all ready for me when I walked the door.

I figured I might not be able to eat at my normal lunchtime due to my crazy schedule so I splurged on a Starbucks bran muffin.  In hindsight I was lucky that I had the foresight to eat breakfast due to the true and crazy events that happened as my day unfolded.

My Marketing Manager and I had our morning meeting in her tiny little sports car while we zipped along Highway 75 towards my hair highlighting appointment with my fabulous hair colorist Rose Zuniga.  Traffic was crazy but somehow I got to my appointment 30 minutes early and had plenty of time to catch up on my reading of Vanity Fair and Modern Salon Magazine.

Rose arrived promptly at 10 am (she’s great that way) and proceeded to skillfully apply my normal quarterly highlights using Matrix SoColor which is fabulous.  (more…)
