Actress Zooey Deschanel tries to be “unbearably clever” at least that’s what she told Jane Magazine in a September 2006 interview about her role in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

The witty younger sister of Emily Deschanel of TV’s Bones told Jane that her fave snack foods were “carob chips, apples, pudding”.

As far as her fashion Zooey told Jane she is perpetually shopping for “the perfect pair of overall shorts” which have “eluded me since the fifth grade”.

Gosh, I just love Zooey in ‘Failure To Launch’ when she is driven to distraction by the mockingbird outside her window.  She is beyond hilarious.

I also loved her as the deadpan smartass in Elf where she played a blonde as well as demonstrating her singing talents during the course of the movie.

Zooey’s career is skyrocketing and she recently walked the Red Carpet with Jim Carrey in honor of her significant role in Yes Man.

Although I never personally met Celebrity Hairdresser Frederic Fekkai I have had a few “almost” encounters.

Back in 2004 I was invited to his corporate offices in New York City to meet with his chief hair accessory designer, to discuss HairBoutique.com carrying the eponymous line which already was a fixture in Berfdorf Goodman and Henri Bendels’.

Although Frederic was not in attendance at that meeting, his offices were an extension of his personality and were very chic and elegant.

Before HairBoutique.com could finalize a deal to work with the Fekkai hair accessory line, Frederic and his business advisers decided to discontinue production of hair accessories and refocus on his other business interests such as his Fekkai salons and hair care products.

A few years after discontinuing his hair accessory line Frederic opened a salon at Henri Bendel, one of the world’s most famed shopping establishments.  (more…)

One of the current goals of hair consumers is finding high quality products which can serve multiple purposes.

A head scarf made of a high quality Pashima, silk or similar fabric, especially one that has a generous amount of material (for rolling and folding), can be worn a variety of ways including the following options:

1. As a soft scarf headband.
The scarf can be rolled into a long tube of fabric and then worn as a hair band positioned at various locations along the head from right at the hairline to near the back of the crown. The scarf headband is tied into a knot with long flowing tails.

The scarf’s knot can be positioned either in front of the ears or behind them with the knot either worn underneath the hair or on top of it. The knot can also be positioned to the side of the head or near the center of the back.

This trend as wearing scarves-as-headbands is rampant over in Europe and it was showcased on the runway for Spring 2009. Expect the trend to continue to grow. Many celebrities such as Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton have rocked various scarf headbands with their hair. (more…)

Back in 1999 some of the hottest fashion trends revolved around “the big frill” as they referred to ruffles.

With fashions we all know that what goes around eventually comes around.

Therefore it was no surprise when the ruffle appeared again for Fall 2008 as one of the most sizzling features around.

Designer Alberta Ferretti told Allure Magazine ,in the past, that “ruffles are a means to communicate lightness and transparency”.

Ferretti said ruffles “add a touch of poetry, a tad of sweetness to the sharpness of a dress” or any other fashion design such as hair accessories, shoes or handbags.

Alberta again embraced ruffles for her Fall 2008 collection showing them as accent ruffles on some of her designs. The designer knows what she is talking about when it comes to ruffles since she is widely known and loved for her soft and beautiful fashions.

“They create a romantic mood” according to designer Donatella Versace, especially “when done in a very uncomplicated way.”. (more…)
