Is It Your Fault If You Get Fat?

Is It Your Fault If You Get Fat?

According to Anti-aging Counselor Joshua Taylor, it’s not your fault if you’re getting fat.  Joshua helps his clients recover the energy, health and vitality of their youth.

Sounds like a new snake oil herb? Not at all.

Joshua shares that one of the best kept secrets in health and fitness is that experts now believe that ‘Life Hormones’ that begin their downward decent in a person’s 20s, can be ‘coaxed back’ with proper diet and exercise.

Joshua believes there are two main Life Hormones necessary for good health and an overall feeling of well being: Human Growth Hormone and Testosterone—yes, testosterone—even for women! (more…)

Brian Boitano Lived On Baked Potatoes And Salads While Skating

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

On “Bonnie Hunt” yesterday the hilarious talk show hostess and comedian had a cooking segment with Olympic figure skater and Food Network star Brian Boitano.

The cooking team started with a special cocktail Brian created called “Italian 88″, his version of a French 75, which consisted of grapefruit juice, vodka and prosecco.  A decorative sugar cube was added to the champagne flute which held the mixture.  Brian explained you put a shot of each liquid.

Bonnie said “oh oh” as she sipped the champagne hued mixture with a beautiful frothy white top.

Bonnie smacked her lips in appreciation and said “Nick’s (her band leader) looking good, in jest after having the first taste.  She said “it’s good, strong, but not too strong.

Bonnie kept drinking and then the alcohol got to her.  She touched her face in reaction to the cocktail as if it already had an impact on her and said “one beer Bonnie, one sip of alcohol.” (more…)

Jessica Simpson Ate Bugs And Had Her Fortune Told On Price Of Beauty

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Tonight was the premiere of Jessica Simpson’s new reality TV Show, “Price Of Beauty” (POB) on Vh1.  The show included both the good and bad sides of beauty in Thailand where Jess and her besties, Ken Paves and Cacee Cobb visited on their first stop.  During the course of the first POB season the three will visit eight different cities.

The three friends were offered the opportunity to eat a Thai specialty which included fried worms and dead bugs.  Yes, the menu at a Bangkok food market included crickets and cockroaches.

Jessica bravely put a worm in her moth and immediately freaked out, ultimately retching from the delicacy.  She was told the treat would help her burn extra calories.  ‘It had a little slime in the middle of it and you could feel the legs,’ she noted.

As always, Jessica showed her goofy side as well as her compassionate side.  When the trio met a Thai woman permanently scarred from face bleaching, her eyes brimmed with tears and she gave the woman a big hug.  It was a very touching moment. (more…)

Alicia Silverstone Talks About Kind Eating And Great Bowel Movements

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Alicia Silverstone was recently on Oprah to talk about food.  Oprah’s entire show was about the foods we eat.  A timely topic for me and what I’ve been doing for the past two years.

Oprah introduced her as “Alicia Silverstone is best known as the star of the comedy classic ‘Clueless’  but what you may not know is that she had severe asthma, insomnia, full blown acne and was constantly constipated.”

(Image of Alicia Silverstone - DailyCeleb.com - All Rights Reserved).

Alica continued “about 12 years ago she completely revamped her diet and at 33 she says she sleeps like a baby, doesn’t worry about her weight and has tons of energy.  She joins me by satellite from New York City where she’s starring on Broadway.”

Oprah “hi Alicia”  Alicia “hiiii, so nice to see you.”

Oprah “I love your book, “The Kind Diet” I’ve been reading it and taking great recipes from it.  So thank you very much.  What did you do to start feeling so good?”

The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet (Hardcover)

Alicia “I stopped eating meat and diary and processed foods. And then you may think, well what do you eat?  I actually started to eat really incredible delicious food that’s easy to make and makes me feel amazing.”

She said “my skin changed drastically, my body changed, my energy level.  I used to have all those white marks on my nails.  And there were very brittle and now they’re so strong I can’t bend them.  And my eyes got really white (clear) and I feel like I look less puffy and it feels amazing.” (more…)

Eat Organic Omega 3 Enhanced Cage Free Eggs For Hair And Beauty Benefits

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

My dearly departed husband Michael T is probably rolling his eyes somewhere in the great beyond as I write this blog.

Why?  For years he tried, unsuccessfully, to get me to convert from regular eggs to organic, omega 3 enhanced, cage free eggs.  I wouldn’t do it.  I was beyond stubborn.  He was always a healthy eater and knew the importance of organic.  I resisted until just recently.

Not only did the “good” eggs, as he called them, always come in brown shells, the eggs seemed to have softer shells and brighter yellow yolks.

Well duh, that was a good thing.  For someone who was raised on White Castles, Steak n’ Shake and meat and potatoes (my dad was a butcher, my mom grew up on cattle farm) the thought of enhanced eggs made me shudder.

If you’ve been reading my blog you know I have been on a journey for the past two years to find foods I could eat that would make me feel healthier while enhancing my hair, skin and other general beauty challenges. (more…)
