Naturally curly haired brunette actress Marissa Jaret Winokur recently joined Oxygen as host of the sizzling hot new dance/weight loss competition series “Dance Your Ass Off.”

Marissa is best known for creating the role of Tracy Turnblad in the hit Broadway musical “Hairspray,” a fabulous performance for which she won a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actress.

Marissa is also known for her fabulous cascade of rich ringlets and sassy natural curls which she wears loose, shiny and bouncy.  Marissa is a poster girl for luscious coils.

When “Hairspray” reached the end of its Broadway run in January 2009, Winokur returned to close the show, reviving her role as the zaftig lead. (more…)

One of the best things that ever happened to Dallas native Melissa Rycroft was getting dumped by Jason Mesnick  in March on ABC’c The Bachelor.  As the saying goes…when one door closes, another opens.

Not only did Melissa get swept from her embarrassing nationally viewed break-up to triumph as a last minute replacement on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars (DWTS), she came in third place and vowed DWTS judges, fellow contestants and fans.

She also won a whole new set of fans who loved her sweetness and beauty. (more…)

I recently was chatting with one of my all time favorite celeb hairdressers, Robert Hallowell. He was thrilled at his latest hairdressing assignment.

He told me he would be the new Head Hairdresser on the new season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Las Vegas).  Filming for the Fall 2009 season starts in June and Robert is preparing for his new project.

I was thrilled for Robert as well as the show (he’s a great hairdresser) and asked him whose hair he would be doing on one of my favorite TV shows.

As head hairdresser on the show he will be designing the hair styles for the entire cast and the look of the show which he said would be focused on how the team might wear their hair in the crime lab and out in the field during the crime investigation field trips.  (more…)

Did you catch Lady Ga Ga on Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) last night on the Finale Show?  In my opinion, her two eye popping performances were the absolute high point of the entire evening.

I was waiting anxiously to see Ga Ga because I knew since my recent visit in Los Angeles that my dear friend and Hairdressing Guru, Ken Paves was going to be doing Lady Ga Ga’s hair for the DWTS finale.

Sure enough, the multi-platinum performer opened the show with her now-famous Just Dance single from her Multi-Platinum CD.

Later in the finale show she did a second performance which was as brilliant as the first.  Yes, I am a huge fan of this gorgeous star.

OK, there are spoilers here so if you want to watch a taped version of Dancing With The Stars stop watching now.  I am watching the show live and writing about the show as it happens.

At the beginning of the show the three judges, who are all talented in the art of dance, went and visited all three of the couples in their practice sessions and gave them pointers on how to improve.

I thought it was interesting that Carrie Ann Inaba when to visit Melissa Rycroft and Tony and told Melissa to get more aggressive with her Paso Doble, which she was weak in.

The three couples finished dancing the Paso Doble. It was interesting that they all danced in sequence with one couple coming onto the floor after the prior couple left.  All three couples danced during the same period to the same music. (more…)
