Celeb Hairstylist Orlando Pita Says Kate Winslet’s Hair Was Cut And Dyed For British Vogue

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Celeb Hairstylist Orlando Pita Says Kate Winslets Hair Was Cut And Dyed For British VogueAccording to an interview with MODERN SALON, celebrity hairstylist Orlando Pita says that Kate Winslet’s hair was cut for the British Vogue cover.

He told MODERN “I think Kate is very versatile and can wear many different looks.  We chose this look because the photographer Mario Testino wanted to giver her a very different look.  The fashion in the story was black and white so we decided to go with almost white hair and cut it short and choppy.”

Pita, a celebrity hair consultant on Bravo’s recent season of Shear Genius, also noted the Academy Award winner’s hair on British Vogue was a dramatic departure from her former shoulder length, dirty blonde locks.

Of course transitioning hair color from dirty blonde to stark white was shocking to fans as was the short choppy hair which many questioned.  Did Kate really cut her hair or not?  After all, many celebrities over the years have stunned fans with a drastic new length or color only to confess later to wearing a wear, hair extensions or some other instant hair altering accessory.

Jessica Simpson famously shocked fans a few years ago by showing up at a red carpet event wearing a drastic new red hair hue.

Shortly afterwards her celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves explained he and Simpson had collaborated on her stunning new do by having her wear a new wig from her Jessica Simpson collection.  Simpson also told the media she used powder mascara to camouflage any random blonde roots that might have popped out from the wig. New Hair Products For April And May 2010

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

New Hair Products For April And May 2010The hair pendulum is swinging.  The days of sleek flat bone straight hair are fast changing to lots of lush volume, enhancement of natural textures and healthy shiny hair.

Of course self-help products are springing up with regularity because consumers want to be able to do their hair at home and get the same results as at the salon.

Although to some it might seem like a sudden change, as long time Paul Mitchell educator and stylist Barbara Lhotan recently said “hair trends start two years before they hit the consumer hair market”.  And so it is.

With all this shift in hair trends there are lots of new hair products being released to address the changing styles, trends, textures and focus.

Although new products are being introduced all through 2010, a ton of new hair care products and lines are being introduced in April and May of 2010 including the following list detailed below. (more…)

Jessica Simpson Ate Bugs And Had Her Fortune Told On Price Of Beauty

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Tonight was the premiere of Jessica Simpson’s new reality TV Show, “Price Of Beauty” (POB) on Vh1.  The show included both the good and bad sides of beauty in Thailand where Jess and her besties, Ken Paves and Cacee Cobb visited on their first stop.  During the course of the first POB season the three will visit eight different cities.

The three friends were offered the opportunity to eat a Thai specialty which included fried worms and dead bugs.  Yes, the menu at a Bangkok food market included crickets and cockroaches.

Jessica bravely put a worm in her moth and immediately freaked out, ultimately retching from the delicacy.  She was told the treat would help her burn extra calories.  ‘It had a little slime in the middle of it and you could feel the legs,’ she noted.

As always, Jessica showed her goofy side as well as her compassionate side.  When the trio met a Thai woman permanently scarred from face bleaching, her eyes brimmed with tears and she gave the woman a big hug.  It was a very touching moment. (more…)
