Dick Clark Productions And Hollywood Foreign Press Go To Court

Dick Clark Productions and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association are officially going to trial to determine who has the rights to negotiate television deals on behalf of the Golden Globe Awards.

Judge Sends Case To Trial

A U.S. District judge decided to send the case to trial after Dick Clark Productions extended its agreement with NBC to air the pre-Oscars award show through 2018, while the Hollywood Foreign Press Association sued them in November, claiming that the production company did not have the right to make that long-term deal.

Judge Valerie Baker Fairbank refused to side with either party, instead noting: “The court finds that the disputed portion of the 1993 amendment is reasonable susceptible to the interpretations of both parties.”  The judge called for a jury trial to begin Aug. 30.

In a release following that statement HFPA’s President Aida Takla-O’Reilly said:  “We look forward to proceeding to trial and vindicating our rights.” (more…)

Actress January Jones drives the fashion, hair and beauty police mad with her ability to constantly reinvent herself on every Red Carpet she steps onto with her bejeweled feet.  In many ways January is a modern version of Cinderella who has emerged from the Mad Men Carriage to be a top contender for best hair, best fashions and just about best everything else ranging from shoes and jewels to handbags and make-up.

Fashion houses like Versace Atelier kill for the opportunity for January to wear their gowns.  Although she appears to have a preference for Versace, for the 2011 SAG Awards she rocked Carolina Herrera.  Her constantly evolving array of updos, twists and retro tresses never cease to impress and work in perfect harmony with her designer gown of choice.

January Jones is sometimes compared to the blonde and beautiful actress Grace Kelly due to her lady-like glamour.

Although she recently wore a stunning red peek-a-boo gown at the 2011 Golden Globes, she changed it up for the SAG Awards by rocking a black high-necked Mermaid shaped figure hugging gown with gold details.

One of the news stories currently buzzing on the web is about Justin Bieber’s expensive haircuts.  According to various media sources Justin gets  his hair cut twice a month at a rate of around $760 per cut.  According to insiders, that amount is just for the cut without any of the add-on items such as washing, blow drying, styling or coloring.  The Bieb’s hairdresser?  Vanessa Price who claims bragging rights for his very first iconic hairstyle introduced in 2009.

Price travels with Justin and coifs his hair for his concerts and other personal appearances.  This is a very common practice.  All major recording and performance artists travel with a hair and make-up team.

Sometimes the hair and make-up are provided by the same person. Depending on how successful or popular the star is, they may have several people who travel with them to cut, blow-dry, color, style and fluff and puff.

While some bloggers are making a big deal out of Justin paying $760 for a cut, this is actually very little compared to what Britney, Madonna, Rhianna and Beyonce pay for their hair cuts.  Many of the big celebrity stylists like Chris McMillan charge literally thousands a day to travel with their celebrity to keep their hair looking chic and photo ready.  Remember when the media went crazy over Aniston’s budget for McMillan on one of her film promotional trips to Europe?

My only comment about Justin’s monthly haircut bills is that I’m glad to see his hairstyles are changing.  I am really loving his latest hairstyle with the separation throughout the bangs.  It showcases his eyes and gives him a softer more accessible look.  Kudos to Price for her ability to keep The Bieb’s bangs looking fresh and celebrity worthy.  His hair looked fantastic at the recent 2011 Golden Globes.

If you think $760 is a lot, imagine what Price’s daily rate to travel with Biebs is.  Yep, didn’t see that one coming, did you.

Guiliana Rancic had one of the best seats in the house at the recent Golden Globes After Party scene.  E! had their very own party where winners were invited in for a special cocktail and an intimate chat fest with the lovely hostess.

Glee’s Chris Colfer stopped by to see Guiliana after his heart stopping win and told Guiliana he was “very shocked” to have received the Globe.

Feeling Guilty About Eric Stonestreet

Although The Glee star said winning “feels amazing” he also said “I feel a little guilty.  I really was not expecting this at all.”

Why did Colfer feel quilty about his GG win?  He told Guiliana “because the other actors in the category were just amazing and I mean Eric Stonestreet makes me laugh every single week, out loud.  And you know, I still think he deserves this more than me for sure.”

Colfer explained that he called Ryan (Murphy) “his fairy godfather” although he confirmed “I can’t remember what I said.  Guilana assured the spectacular performer that his acceptance speech was “a pretty incredible moment, it was really beautiful.” (more…)

Last night Ricky Gervais welcomed a star studded audience to the 68th Golden Globe.  The British comedian said the awards was “a night of heavy drinking and partying or as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast.”  Ricky went on to pick on Charlie mentioning that he recently picked up a stripper and then described the Two and A Half Men’s notorious NYC plaza fit.

After an uncomfortable bashing of Sheen, the British funnyman mercilessly trashed the nomination of The Tourist starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, despite critical pans.

“Who knows? I haven’t seen it,” Gervais admitted. “There’s this ridiculous rumor going around that the only reason The Tourist was nominated was so that the Hollywood Foreign Press could hang out with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. That’s rubbish. they also accepted bribes.”

The cameras caught Depp making a sour face in the audience.  Others around Depp seemed annoyed as well.

As if trashing Charlie Sheen, Angelina, Johnny Depp wasn’t enough, Ricky Gervais mocked the cast of the un-nominated Sex and the City 2. “Girls, we know how old you are! I saw one of you on an episode of Bonanza.” (more…)
