Oprah’s Hairstylist – Andre Walker Dishes About Oprah’s Hair

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

Oprahs Hairstylist Andre Walker Dishes About Oprahs HairOprah’s longtime hairstylist Andre Walker opens up to O, The Oprah Magazine in the April issue (on newsstands now)!

Oprah credits Andre for helping her keep her real hair for 24 years. “In the summer, I braid my hair. I wear weaves. I’ve worn weaves on the show. I’ve worn weaves on the magazine covers,” she says. “I have done pretty much all of it because in order to keep your hair, you can’t put heat in your hair every day.”

Additionally, check out Oprah.com for a photo gallery of Oprah’s hairstyles through the years…(Click on link)

It all started with a bold move…

“I’m dying to get my hands in your hair.” That’s the note stylist Andre Walker sent Oprah in 1985, after seeing her on the talk show AM Chicago. “Back then it was just Oprah, one publicist, and one producer,” recalls Walker, who at the time owned a Chicago salon.

Andre’s three tips for beautiful hair:

“Condition. Condition. Condition. Whether you think you need it or not, use a conditioner every time you shampoo, and slather on a thick hair mask once a week (I just launched a Keratin Mask and Treatment Pak that you can leave on in the shower for five minutes). Restoring moisture to the hair is really important to help repair dry ends and add shine.” Continue reading “Oprah’s Hairstylist – Andre Walker Dishes About Oprah’s Hair” »

Curly Hair On 2011 Celeb Apprentice

Monday, March 7th, 2011

Curly Hair On 2011 Celeb ApprenticeThe new series of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice kicked off last night in a two hour premiere.  Star Jones and Survivor’s Richard Hatch stepped up to be the first project managers.  Both the men’s and women’s team were loaded with an array of celebrities with big egos and personalities.

Conflict between leader Richard Hatch and David Cassidy was palpable.  Not only did Hatch physically push and poke Cassidy, he predicted the former teen hearththrob would be one of the first to go.

Meanwhile on ASAP, the women’s team, Star Jones and Lisa Rinna clashed with Rinna making snipes about Jones.

Curly Hair Was Missing In Action

Was there anything missing on the popular show?  Curly hair.

It was completely missing from all of the celebrities.  In fact, the only celebrity with any type of texture was Rapper and Entrepreneur Lil John who rocks some major locks.  In fact, Lil John has some of the best locks I’ve seen.  They’re well-groomed and they are multi-hued which gives them a lush look.

Although several of the celebrities are known to have naturally curly tresses, none of them showcased their coils, ringlets or spirals.   Continue reading “Curly Hair On 2011 Celeb Apprentice” »

Michael Jackson Was Murdered Says Sister LaToya JacksonAnd The Donald Is Intimadating

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

Michael Jackson Was Murdered Says Sister LaToya JacksonAnd The Donald Is IntimadatingThe new season of The Celebrity Apprentice premieres tonight on NBC.  Co-anchor Matt Lauer on the Today Show had a personal interview with LaToya Jackson who is one of the cast members on the show.

LaToya discussed The Donald, her belief that her brother Michael was murdered and that Dr. Conrad Murray is the fall guy.  She also discussed her time on the new season of the reality apprentice show and hinted at a new tell-all book about the Jackson family.

Dealing With The Donald In The Boardroom

Introducing the  interview Matt said “LaToya found out that facing the Donald in The Boardroom can be a little intimadating.” A clip was shown of LaToya with her team of female celebs talking to Donald Trump.

The clips showed Jackson saying “our team name is ASAP”.   The Donald replied “and does that mean as soon as possible?”   Latoya explained “no, actually it doesn’t.”  Donald said “good” LaToya said “actually it means actors, singers, authors and performers with a purpose.”  The camera captured Lisa Rinna making a face at LaToya and being corrected by one of her team members who said “it’s artists not authors.”

LaToya repeated herself and said ASAP stands for “it’s artists, singers, actors.” Another team member said “it’s authors.” The Jackson family singer said “authors, I’m sorry.” She continued to try and said what ASAP meant while Lisa Rinna kept making faces. Hair Secrets Revealed When Ivanka Styled Ivana Trump

Monday, December 27th, 2010

Hair Secrets Revealed When Ivanka Styled Ivana TrumpIf you ever visited my house you might think you were visiting a library.  The reality is that I save every book, magazine and related hair article I ever read.  Once in awhile I go through my shelves to see what kind of hair, beauty or fashion related gems I can find.

Recently I discovered the September 2000 issue of Marie Claire Magazine.  In this particular issue I was fascinated to find an article featuring a brunette tressed Ivana Trump,  acting as a fashion stylist to her famous mother.

At the time of the article, about the celebrity mother and daughter team,  Ivana was preparing to attend Georgetown University as a freshman.  It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since the beautiful and poised Ivanka was beginning her college days.

What was fascinating about unearthing this article was finding all the hair secrets revealed during the makeover shoot.  It was interesting looking back into time and catching the Trump girls having fun playing fashionista together.

From Sophisticated To Very Pretty And Very Very Simple

Besides have long brunette tresses Ivanka’s goal with regard to styling her famous mom was simple.  Ivanka, known as Vachi to her mom, told Marie Claire “I’m going to make my mom look very pretty – and very, very simple.”   Simple was definitely a new direction for the famously sophisticated blonde beauty known for her mile high French twists, fluffy blonde bouffant buns and high fashion looks.
