Essential Oils Around Since Time Of Pharaohs

Monday, August 23rd, 2010
Tweet

Essential Oils (EO) are key components used by many consumers who make their own hair and beauty home recipes with a variety of carrier oils or butters.

Essential Oils have been around since the time of the Pharaohs.  Essential oils of flowers and plants have been used to promote beauty and general well being.

The Power Of Scents

Latest scientific research has confirmed this ancient knowledge revealing the amazing power of scents to to influence our moods and emotions.  Studies have shown that some scents can help create relaxation while others can assist with sleep and a variety of other goals.

I personally dab lavender essential oil onto my wrists every night to help me fall asleep.  It works like a charm.  I also use peppermint EO when I need a lift or rosemary EO to help my scalp.  Ylang Ylang is another favorite of mine for feeling relaxed and refreshed. (more…)

Pearls Of Nail Polish Wisdom With Mother Of Pearl Irridescent Hue

Sunday, June 27th, 2010
Tweet

Neutral nail lacquers in hues of soft apricot, creamy white, soft taupes and light milk chocolates are part of the current Summer scene.

I’ve been personally experimenting with a range of whites and recently fell in love with OPI’s Pearls Of Wisdom from the Hong Kong Collection, which is basically a sheer shimmer formulation with a hint of mother-of-pearl iridescence.

Think abalone shells.  If you’re a fan of pearls, you will probably enjoy this hue.

When I first selected the bottle, I expected it to be a pearly white.  In reality it is closer to a pale pink.

It reminds me of pink infused taupes, sands or fawn colors.  One of my favorite results was pairing this polish with OPI Samoan Sands.  Use your own imagination and layer as you will.

What can I say about this classy pearl infused hue?  The list below summarizes my experience with this enigmatic hue. (more…)

Although Summertime directs more focus then usual on our legs, any fashion trends which feature short hemlines bring legs into the limelight.

Of course if you want to rock the latest denim short shorts fashions, your legs definitely need to look their best.

Celebrities who sashay down the Red Carpets in short gowns all year long understand the importance of showcasing a set of sexy stems.  There are many tricks ranging from the right pair of shoes to standing to win the camera’s favor.

The reality?  Many celebs work hard all year long, in the health club, at home, at the skin spas and with their make-up artists and stylists to achieve the sexiest legs possible.

Toned Thighs And Curvaceous Legs At The Health Club

Although Jennifer Aniston is famous for her caramel and golden tresses, she is equally famous for her toned thighs and curvaceous legs which she achieves from long hours running on her treadmill at full tilt. (more…)

Blue Nail Polish Hues Shimmer On Summer Nails

Monday, June 14th, 2010
Tweet

Fashion and hair trendsetter Beyonce was recently seen wearing beautiful soft eggshell blue nail polish in her ‘Why Don’t You Love Me’ video.

Fellow celebrity fashionistas like Jessica Alba have recently opted for similar blue nail hues on the red carpet. Blue nail polish not only looks striking, it will help channel the sunny days of summer and will set you apart as a fashion forward nailista.

Blue nail polish has been a strong lacquer trend since 2008.   In Spring of 2009 navy blue nail polishes were christened the newest, hottest hue of the season.

Chanel led the blue charge with their luxurious Blue Satin which was a deep navy blue.

Since blue became the go-to new hue for nails OPI (my personal favorite) has released a dizzying array of blues in every imaginable tone.

In fact, as I sit her blogging my own toenails and fingernails are wrapped in one of the newest Shrek blues - What’s With The Cattitude.

Note: The newest Shrek Forever 2010 Collection also includes Ogre The Top Blue – Shrek Forever After Collection

Dita Von Teese’s Raven Black Hairstyle

Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Tweet

One of the best articles I read about Dita Von Teese (born Heather Sweet) was in the May 2007 issue of Baazar Magazine.  The article was titled “Dita Comes Clean” by Sheryl Garratt and investigated the life of Dita right after her famous split from Marilyn Manson.

To this day no one really knows what caused the couple, together for many years, to separate suddenly.  In fact, it was so sudden that Dita moved out instantly and didn’t look back.

Raven Black Unique Hairstyles From 1940s and 1950s

The gorgeous fan dancing stripper has completely reinvented herself since her humble birth in a small town in Michigan.  She took the name Dita from Dita Parlo, a silent film star.  She also draws inspiratio from Hedy Lamaar.

I’ve always admired Dita because she has a history of adopting unique hairstyles to match her classic fashions.  She often wears her adopted raven black hair adorned with soft Lana Turner style curls right out of the 1940s and 1950s.  Ironically, Dita is a natural blonde, but adopted her dark tresses for a more dramatic look.  Indeed, it works.
