Joel Madden Spun Lionel Ritchie, Motown, Michael Jackson At 2010 Oscars

Ryan Seacrest welcomed Joel Madden and his lovely wife-to-be Nicole Ritchie on the Red Carpet yesterday before the 2010 Academy Awards.

Ryan said “Joel Madden rolling in for the Oscar.”

Ryan shook Joel’s hand and then leaned over and kissed Nicole who was wearing her brunette tresses pulled up in a sleek crown level soft chignon which worked in harmony with her backless metallic Reem Acra long gown with flowing angel sleeves.

I thought Nicole looked beautiful but felt her gown could have been more revealing.  Yes, it was backless but seemed to have too much material in the sleeves and through the front.  Or maybe it just didn’t photograph as good is looked in person.  That’s a possibility.

Nicole did look gorgeous although I’m still not a fan of her darker hair color.  I liked her as a blonde.  Nicole also was wearing dramatic eye makeup.  She had a liquid eyeliner with a traditional cat eye.  Joel was wearing his shades.

Nicole said “how are you?” and Ryan said “I should be asking you.  You’ve got a little pressure tonight.”  Then Ryan said “now Joel explain to the folks at home what brings you down the Red Carpet tonight?” (more…)

Max Factor Cosmetics Ending Run In US Due To Waning Popularity

Max Factor & Company is a cosmetics company, founded during 1909 by Maximilian Faktorowicz (1877-August 30, 1938).   Max Factor was a Polish-Jewish cosmetician artist for the Russian royal ballet.   He was respected as a pioneering Hollywood makeup artists.

Presently, the Max Factor name is a brand of Procter & Gamble Co., which purchased the company during 1991. The line enjoyed its highest popularity in the 1920s and 1930s.

Max Factor has lost a lot of its market share of the iconic line to other brands such as CoverGirl.  As a result Procter & Gamble announced plans in June of 2009 to pull Max Factor cosmetics completely from the U.S. market in early 2010 as the brand’s popularity with American consumers continued to decline. InStyle Wedding Magazine Folding In December 2009

Time Inc. Folding InStyle Weddings

It has been confirmed by The Gawker that Time Inc. is folding Instyle Weddings, a quarterly publication. The wedding magazine category is rough these days due to the large number of wedding magazines and the challenged economy.

Brides have been turning more towards free Internet sites for their bridal fixes.

The long term magazine’s closure comes upon the heels of a round of employee layoffs. Earlier this month, Time Inc. began laying off roughly 500 staffers in a reorg that was done to save $100 million costs.

InStyle Wedding’s final issue hits newsstands on Dec. 25, and will be available until March 2009.  InStyle will continue to publish other similar types of spinoff magazines, but will abandon the weddings theme. (more…)
