Get Glam In Any Light From Candlelight To A Nightclub

Even the very best make-up application can look bad in the wrong light.  If you plan your make-up around the location you’ll be showcasing it in, then you can look glam in any light from candlelight to nightclubs.

When possible try on any new make-up you might like to buy in a room with various lights.  Remember that natural light doesn’t lie.

Minimizing Impact Of Lights

When lights hit you from above, they create shadows on your face, particularly under the eyes.  Whether you’re inside or outdoors, try to stand behind the sun or away from overhead lights.  Whenever you can tilt your chin up slightly to minimize any casts.

In Candlelight

Candles even out skin and soften features.  Play up that luminous glow by mixing a dollop of pearly lotion with a sheer foundation.  Skip bronzers, which can look muddy.  in candlelight.

Consider an eye shadow in the eggplant shade family or similar, to pick up the flicks of the candle.  Finish lips with a great gloss which also will look great in candlelight. (more…)

I had a rare opportunity to catch up with Sherri today where she graciously shared some of her vast wisdom about the hair industry, her long relationship representing Rusk and her goals for the immediate future.

Makeup Trends For Spring 2011

Bobbi Thomas was on the Friday, April 1st Today Show (on NBC) talking about the latest make-up trends for Spring 2011.  Bobbi pointed out that everyone is so anxious for Spring to kick in that they are pulling out big, bold colors to kick it off.

Bobbi noted that for Spring 2011 make-up is all about color.   Big, bold, color.  Bobbie showed off all the latest cosmetics including:

Eye Shadow

Although it may seem a tad scary, blue eye shadow is back and it’s big.  Bobbi pointed out the best blue eye shadows are in the wet/dry version available from YSL, Elf or Maybelline, to name a few.

Wet/dry is best because it means you can apply it either wet or dry, but it prevents too much color transfer or powder flying everywhere.  It definitely provides more control over traditional eye shadows that are not wet/dry.  Not only will you not over apply color but you can mix better with wet/dry formulations. Twilight star Ashley Greene was on a TwitterView today to answer Prom and related questions from fans and friends of  DonateMyDress.org.  Ashley is the celebrity spokesperson for the organization.  This is her third year with the group with works to provide prom dresses to those in need.

Ashley shared some personal insights including the part of the Twilight books and movies she liked best and hinted at her own struggles with low self esteem.

First question -  “What kind of dress did you wear to your prom? Please describe!”
AshleyGreene: said “I wore a fitted, floor length tan dress that was beaded. I knew it was the perfect dress the second I saw it!”

Second question -  “Which part of the Twilight books and movies do you like most and why?”
AshleyGreene:”I like the part where Alice is planning the wedding with Bella. I love to plan parties and I collaborated on my dress!”

Third question -  “What’s your best makeup tip for prom—and do you have any products to recommend?”
AshleyGreene:”Don’t wear too much – you should still look like you! Try mark’s lip stains – they’ll last all night and it’s not too heavy.”

Fourth question – “Who has been your greatest inspiration in life?”
AshleyGreene: “Probably my mom because she always made me feel loved and beautiful no matter what ”

Fifth question – “Do you identify with the Alice’s character in Twilight? If so, why?”
