Oxygen pulls back the curtain on the tantalizing world of medi-spas with a new reality workplace dramedy series, “Addicted to Beauty.”

“Addicted to Beauty” follows the outrageous staff at Changes Plastic Surgery and Spa, located in Southern California.

Dianne York-Goldman, socialite and marketing expert, has brought her over-the-top employees from her previous spa to help with this new venture with well-known plastic surgeon Dr. Gilbert Lee.

The staff includes: Gary, the flamboyant and outspoken receptionist; Ronnie, the eccentric concierge; Natasha, Dianne’s levelheaded assistant and Shannyn, the whip cracking spa manager.

However, this group may be no match for Melanie (aka, “Mel”), Dr. Lee’s no nonsense office manager who is not afraid of giving out tough love. (more…)

The Oxygen Network originally planned for their latest reality TV show, “Addicted to Beauty,” to chronicle the daily happenings of a trendy California medical spa along with the lives of its married co-owners, a socialite (Dianne York-Goldman) and her doctor husband.

Oxygen gave the nod for the reality show and the cameras started to roll. Unfortunately, the show hit a big snag right at the beginning.

Oxygen general manager Jason Klarman reported “Before we even got into production, they (the couple) got divorced.”

Which is one of the problems of reality TV shows, as recently witnessed on TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus Eight. Although unexpected, the divorce didn’t sink “Beauty”. (more…)

Soap operas which are basically any type of romantic based drama got their name because their primary sponsors, even during their initial radio days, were soap makes like the famous Procter & Gamble Co. (PG).

Famous long running soap operas include NBC’s Days Of Our Lives, As The World Turns, All My Children and The Guiding Light, to name just a few of the many beloved serials.

Now that the hottest markets for new beauty and hair consumer expansion are in China, P&G, the big soap giant is going online to the Internet and producing Chinese characters to sell their beauty wares.

Max Factor, a famous beauty brand that P&G is in the process of discontinuing in the United States is playing a key role in the firm’s new marketing efforts in China. (more…)

Brein Consult, organisers of “Face of Tertiary” beauty pageant, on Friday launched the 2009 edition of the show, with a call on all Ghanaians to help in the fight against child trafficking.

The pageant, which would attract beauty queens from tertiary institutions, would be on the theme: “Defining a Role for Tertiary Institutions in Eradicating Child Trafficking in Ghana”, is slated for October 20.

Addressing media at the launch, Madam Christiana Nandara, Executive Director of Brein Consult, said the pageant was a novelty that sought to produce beauty queens who would use their beauty and intelligence to propagate a worthy cause. (more…)
