Sandra Oh Wins Emmy Award Nod For Supporting Actress On Greys Anatomy

Sandra Oh, born July 20, 1971, is a SAG, Canadian Genie and Golden Globe Award-winning actress. She is primarily known for her role as Dr. Cristina Yang (2005 – Present) in the ABC series Grey’s Anatomy.

Recently the talented actress was nominated for her fifth Emmy award for the top rated ABC show as Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Besides her stellar work in television, she has also played notable roles in a range of feature films including the highly praised Sideways where as Stephanie she tapped into her Korean female rage while punching out actor Thomas Haden Church.

Before making a name for herself as the aggressively no-nonsense wannabe female top-notch surgeon, Sandra had a supporting role as Rita Wu on the HBO original series Arli$ for seven years as an edgy smart ass.  Those who know her well suggest that there is very little similarity between Sandra Oh the actress and Sandra Oh the private person. Owen Wilson Live Greeting At 2009 Spirit Awards

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Owen Wilson Live Greeting At 2009 Spirit AwardsOwen Wilson, like Drew Barrymore, did a remote live feed into the 2009 Spirit Awards.  In the case of Owen, he appeared to be on a set somewhere filming a new film.

The camera panned onto Owen who smiled and said “Good Evening everybody, I’m Owen Wilson and I’m happy to be able to participate in the Spirit Awards because for me Independent film has always sustained me creatively.”

He appeared serious when he said “I think I’ve operated my career a little bit on the one for them and one for me philosophy.”

He explained “so I might do a genre picture like Armageddon which enables me to do something a little more experimental where I might stretch myself like Starsky and Hutch.”  The star studded audience laughed.

Someone walked past Owen in the background and he said “that was Wes Anderson, we’re going to get back to work, but not before I say congratulations and fight the good fight.”  He finished with “and as the Native American Sioux Shamans say… Hasta Manana and Arevaderchi.

Joaquin Phoenix Parting Not Sweet Sorrow In Hollywood

Joaquin Phoenix Parting Not Sweet Sorrow In Hollywood

Joaquin Phoenix has morphed from an Oscar award winning actor into one of the biggest jokes in Hollywood.

Why has this happened?

First of all Joaquin (who was originally named Leaf) is known for his erratic interest in the acting profession.

Recently he announced to a stunned world he was leaving acting and would dedicate himself to a career in Hip Hop.

Hollywood, always looking for a good joke, embraced Joaquin’s announcement that he was quitting acting with a series of jokes including those directed at him by David Letterman on his show.

2009 Spirit Awards Catherine Keener And Michelle Williams Bond

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

2009 Spirit Awards Catherine Keener And Michelle Williams Bond I’m a huge fan of both Catherine Keener and Michelle Williams.  Of course a really great actress can present themselves on screen in such a manner that you think they are the kind of person you might want to hang out with and in reality, in private, they are someone completely different.

While I’m not sure I would have a lot to chat with Michelle about on a personal lever, other than having also suddenly lost a male partner to death, I really feel I would enjoy Catherine.  She seems to have a free spirit, a great sense of fun and a zest for life.

Ironically Catherine attended the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards in very relaxed fashion.  She wore her naturally wavy hair long and tousled, which is a nice word for wind blown.

Michelle was very dressed up with her buttery blonde tresses wrapped into a very soft low nape twist with a few strands allowed to curl out along the hairline.

2009 Independent Spirit Awards Cameron Diaz

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

2009 Independent Spirit Awards Cameron DiazHost Steve Coogan introduced Cameron by saying “and now to present the Robert Altman Award Someone I think would be perfect as the leading lady for my new movie called Trapped In An Elevator With Cameron Diaz…it’s called Cameron Diaz.”

(Image of Cameron Diaz at 2009 Independent Spirit Awards – All Rights Reserved).

Actress Cameron Diaz sashayed onto the stage at the recent 2009 Independent Spirit Awards as a presenter.  Wearing her darker blonde hair long, lush and full of volume, Cameron was rocking a cherry red satin dress with thick black vertical stripes. She completed the look with black stiletto high heels.

Cameron smiled into the audience and said “hi…everyone.  There’s a lot of you here by the way.  The great auteur Robert Altman once said that “film making is a chance to live many lifetimes.  The award we give in his honor recognizes an entire cast of actors who have truly lived the lives of their characters on scene.”
