Melissa Watking Trueblood Tapped For 84th Academy Awards®

Beverly Hills, CA – Melissa Watkins Trueblood has been named talent producer for the 84th Academy Awards, telecast producers Brett Ratner and Don Mischer announced today. This will be her first association with the Oscar telecast. In addition, Danette Herman has signed on to consult for the 84th and 85th shows.

“As the newest addition to our team, Melissa brings a wealth of experience and years of great talent relationships to the table,” Ratner and Mischer said. “We know she is going to be a fantastic asset.”

Trueblood has served as a co-producer or talent producer on numerous awards shows, recently serving as co-producer for “The 63rd Primetime Emmy® Awards.”

Her other credits include the American Music Awards, the Golden Globe® Awards, the People’s Choice Awards and the World Music Awards.

Carrie Ann Inaba Jumped Into DWTS Fray

Season 13 of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars has been full of controversy.  At the beginning of the season there was lots of criticism directed at Chaz Bono for being one of the celebrity contestants.  There was also a drop in the show’s ratings blamed on the lack of big name celebrities.

Last week the controversy continued with DWTS judge Bruno Tonioli calling Chaz, who was eliminated, a penquin and an Ewok.  Mama Cher was extremely upset and Tweeted to Tonioli and the DWTS judges “Critique Chaz’s dance style, movements, etc. But don’t make fun of my child on national TV.”

DWTS Judge Inaba told Billy Bush on Wednesday she respected what Chaz Bono was doing for the transgender community.

She noted “But the scoring has to do with what they’re doing dance wise. We are able to separate the two. Avoid taking thyroid medications at the same time as calcium or iron supplements.  Studies have shown that both type of nutirents can prevent thyroid hormones from being appropriately absorbed.

Toni Collette Is Totally Mad In Mental

According to The Hollywood Reporter, several hot new films are scheduled to be released between 2011 and 2013 which feature Australian stars.

Actress Toni Collette, who co-stars in the newly released “Fright Night” as Charley Brewster’s mom, is one of the Australian actresses reportedly working on one of the not new films.

Mental

Collette’s film is titled “Mental” which is a co-production of L.A.-based Zucker Productions and Australia’s Story Bridge Films.  The film is a reuniting of director P.J. Hogan with the award winning actress some 17 years after their breakout comedy Muriel’s Wedding.

The film is described as a comedic tribute to The Sound of Music.  Collette (“Little Miss Sunshine”) stars as Shaz, a nanny Hogan describes as “hilarious, outrageous, dangerous, courageous, inspiring, heartbreaking and totally, totally mad.”  The film is scheduled to be released in 2012.

United States Of Tara

Collette most recently played Tara in Showtime’s “United States of Tara” which was a comedy-drama TV series created by Diablo Cody.
