Melissa McCarthy Shocked By Her First Emmy Win
Melissa McCarthy who is the adorable Molly on CBS TV’s Mike & Molly was so humble on the Red Carpet when interviewed about attending her first Emmy. Melissa seemed in awe of all the activities on the Red Carpet, but even more shocked when she won Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
In a funny twist all of the Lead Actress nominees came up on stage when their names were called. This is not a normal event. In fact, the category’s presenters, Parks And Recreation’s Rob Lowe and Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara seemed stunned when Amy Poehler walked up on stage as her name was called. After Amy walked up on stage the rest of the nominees followed.
Before the winner for the category was announced all of the women held hands as if they were at a beauty pageant. Amy was joined by Melissa McCarthy,Edie Falco, Laura Linney, Martha Plimpton and Tina Fey.
The audience loved the departure from the normal award process and stood to give all the amazing actresses a standing nomination.
When Melissa’s name was called as the winner her mouth literally was hanging open. She was handed a tiara and long stem red roses and the rest of the nominees surrounded her and congratulated her.
Melissa held up the roses and the Emmy. Her newly placed tiara was cocked to one side and she exclaimed that she didn’t have her list of people to thank. She also looked and saw a clock counting down and she exclaimed that she didn’t know if she would have time to thank everyone. The winning actress started by first thanking her husband who she said wasn’t there.
Melissa thanked her sister who was there and her parents for always believing in her. Melissa said that she loves her job and the people she works with so much that she often arrives on set early like a dork.
Her speech was sweetly touching and humble. I for one had tears in my eyes. Melissa has been my favorite actress since her days as Sookie St. James on Gilmore Girls. I am so thrilled that she has finally won her first Emmy.
