How To Bump Up Your Hair

How To Bump Up Your Hair

How To Bump Up Your HairBumped up bangs, crowns and backs of  the head can be easily accomplished with a variety of hair tools ranging from foam infused hair ratts to metal or plastic clips positioned to hold the backcombed hair.

Ivana Trump once shared that she achieves her signature hair bumps and bouffants with properly positioned rolled up pantyhose.  She uses clean pantyhose the same color as her natural hair to add instant height.

How To Bump Up Your Hair- Step By Step

Step 1 – Cleanse hair, condition, detangle, towel blot and apply a styling cocktail.
Step 2 – Blow dry hair straight with a blow dryer and a boar bristle round or paddle brush.
Step 3 – Pull a 2″ section of hair out from your fringe or from the front of the hairline.
Step 4 – Backcomb hair with a teasing brush to the designed height.
Step 5 – Position hair ratt, clean rolled pantyhose or similar tool underneath the teased hair.
Step 6 – Pull hair over the hair ratt or similar.  Smooth hair down with fingers.
Step 7 – Pull hair up from both sides merging it with the hair which has been backcombed.  Use 2-4 pins the same color as your hair to pin hair over the ratt or similar tool.  It’s usually works best when the pins are positioned on each side and criss-crossed to the back.
How To Bump Up Your HairStep 8 – Use a 1 1/2″ curling iron and work in 2″ sections throughout the back of the hair to create loose ringlets.  Roll hair around the iron in ringlet formations.
Step 9 – Once you release the hair from the iron, pin it temporarily against the scalp to allow the new curl to cool and set.
Step 10 – Create the desired number of size and curls throughout the back of the head.
Step 11 – Once hair has been curled, cooled and dried, remove all the pins.  Tousle lightly with your fingers to arrange.
Step 12 – To finish the hair style spray the entire head  with extra firm hairspray.
