Back To School Stress Busters For Moms And Kids

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Back To School Stress Busters For Moms And KidsYesterday I received an AskKaren email about selecting a brand new hairstyle for Back To School from the nervous mom who was trying to help her daughter get ready for freshman year in high school.

After providing some hair suggestions the mom thanked me and said, if only you could provide other back to school stress busters.  Which got me to thinking.  What a great idea for a blog.

So what are some of the main back-to-school stressors for both moms and kids?  Experts have suggested that the fear of the unknown is the most stressful part of back to school.

It’s even more stressful when a child is entering a brand new school such as starting middle school or high school.

Listed below are some ways to minimize back to school stresses:

1.  Hair – Select easy to re-create styles that aren’t too drastic.

Avoid going with a dramatic makeover, especially close to the back-to-school date.  If the makeover goes seriously wrong or you can’t recreate the same magic at home as the stylist did in the salon you could be adding extra stress.  The best time to try out new hair styles, textures or lengths is at the beginning of the summer when you still have time to tweak the results into a workable routine. How To Hairstyle: Christina Aguilera’s Wild Blonde Hairstyle In W Magazine

Christina Aguilera How To W Magazine Wild Blonde Hairstyle

How To Hairstyle: Christina Aguileras Wild Blonde Hairstyle In W MagazineIcy blonde Christina Aguilera has jumpstarted her career and worldwide popularity with her role on NBC’s “The Voice.”  The reality TV show ended last night by naming a winner from the four finalists (Javier Colon on Adam Levine’s team). Although Christina’s finalist did not win,  she was very supportive of all the finalists.

As a celebrity judge Christina has shown the world a kinder, gentler and serious side.  Her white blonde hair which is styled by celebrity hair star David Babaii has been coiffed into an array of amazing eye popping, mouth dropping updos, braids and long luscious strands.

In the age of pop queens such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, hair is constantly scaling to new heights of outrageous, stunning, eye popping and mouth dropping extremes.

Whereas big pop stars used to try and hide the fact they were wearing an array of lace front wigs, clip-in extensions and fusion hair, that is no longer the case.

Wigs Are Hot In The Pop Idol Universe

Everyone knows Rihanna and her celebrity hairstylist constantly create an array of new wigs to work in harmony with RiRi’s latest costumes and fashions.  Lady Gaga changes wigs as often as her shoes.   When she tires of wigs she pops on bald caps or similar. Of course Katy Perry has worn just about every hue of wig possible from bright blue to raven black.

Although Christina doesn’t publicly discuss her hair or whether she wears lace front wigs, extensions or clip-ins, industry insiders believe her never ending white white blonde tresses are not all 100% hers.  But seriously, who really cares?  If her hairstyles are eye catching and appropriate for her costumes and fashions then kudos to Christina for taking advantage of all the hair options available to her. Her hair is spectacular and she wears it cascading down around her shoulders in tight ringlets, coils and curls.  If you love gorgeous curls you won’t be able to take your eyes off Hanna Linden.  Of course Gracelle’s acting is fabulous in the part.  She is perfect for the role.

Hairstylist Kazumi Morton Perfects The Art Of Color

Hairstylist Kazumi Morton Perfects The Art Of ColorHairstylist Kazumi Morton Perfects The Art Of Color

Hair health and Skin Tone are Integral to Philosophy

Kazumi Morton has a passion for color and true talent that has been polished by years of experience and dedication. She has a brilliant ability to transform hair color while complementing skin tone, and knows how to incorporate the hottest trends into beautiful looks for her clients.

While Los Angeles is known for its ubiquitous blondes, the ombré look has recently taken the city by storm. Now that the two-toned Drew Berrymore look has faded in popularity, the current trend is much softer and natural looking.

Kazumi creates the perfect gradual dark-to-light look by adding highlights to the tips of hair and blending them well, sometimes adding highlights around the face as well. Kazumi finds inspiration in her children’s hair, which is naturally lightened from the sun, to produce realistic results.

While lately many people have been shying away from red hair because its trending cycle was down, the color is making a comeback and Kazumi knows just how to approach it. This summer, she says, will see shades of copper, strawberry blonde, and apricot. Kazumi adds “sun-kissed” highlights to red so the color has dimension and looks natural. Injectibles Which Can Make Feet Summer Ready

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

Injectibles Which Can Make Feet Summer ReadyAngled toes, raised corns, and bony protrusions cause many women to avoid walking barefoot or wearing open toed sandals or the lastest fashions in peep toes.

As a holistic practioner of aesthetic medicine, Dr. Alexander Rivkin (www.westsideaesthetics.com), the international authority on non-surgical aesthetics can help get feet display-ready for summer by injecting cosmetic fillers, such as Juvederm, around the targeted problem areas.

Unlike traditional podiatric procedures, which often require painful surgeries and weeks of downtime, non-invasive injections are quick, relatively pain free and offer immediate results without the cost and hassle of a lengthy recovery.

After the filler is injected, patients walk away with feet that appear more balanced and even. The smoother look and shape of the feet draws attention away from any obvious imperfections. Continue reading “Injectibles Which Can Make Feet Summer Ready” »
