Lisa Edelstein Shocks TV World By Leaving House

Lisa Edelstein Shocks TV World By Leaving HouseActress Lisa Edelstein who plays the beloved Dr. Cuddy on Fox/TV’s hit series House has made a statement about the fact she is leaving the show at the end of this season.  Cuddy has been a key foil for Dr. House and in Season Seven, now ending, she played his real live love interest.

The reason for Edelstein’s decision to leave House?  Money.  Edelstein released the following statement to the press:  “After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead.”

Edelstein along with Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps was one of the key cast members of the House franchise.  Although Leonard and Epps recently reupped for another season, Edelstein has decided to leave the series leaving the on-again-off-again romance and hijinks with Dr. House in permanent limbo.

Both Epps and Edelstein were asked to take a  pay cut from their salary.  Edelstein’s most recent salary of $175,000 an episode was to be cut. However, she still received a solid offer per each episode.   In essence Edelstein is walking away from more than $2 million she would receive if she stayed for Season 8.

Edelstein’s departure leave Olivia Wilde as the only regular female cast member.  Wilde’s movie career is sizzling right now so she spent much of Season Seven off the show.  She recently returned after claiming to have been in jail for providing a mercy killing to her own brother.

The departure of Edelstein leaves many questions about the hit show up in the air.
