Fox TV’s Musical House Beats The Bachelor And NBC’s Event Had Poor Attendance

House And The Bachelor Beat Out The Event

Fox TVs Musical House Beats The Bachelor And NBCs Event Had Poor AttendanceIn a strange twist the latest episode of House featured a series of flashbacks to old TV series and a few musical snippets.  Yes, it was strange but the ending had a lot of punch altering the course of Dr. House and his love life.

If you didn’t see the episode I’m not going to spoil it for you.  House pulled in a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.1 million viewers overall. It has been flat week-to-week, but is still the top-rated show of Monday night.

Meanwhile ABC’s The Bachelor came in second leaving the two-hour return of NBC’s The Event at the very bottom of the heap.  The Bachelor (8-10 p.m.) was down 11% week-to-week, but still gave ABC a win in the 9 p.m. hour (3.2, 10.2 million).

NBC did a lot to advertise the retooled show with live stumping on The Today Show and through other venues.  Sadly it appears The Event is on a slide.

The live ratings do not bode well for the future of the show.  The two-hour return of NBC’s The Event tumbled double-digits.  On a brighter note NBC reported above average DVR numbers – 38% in live-plus-seven but the live show results are not encouraging.

The Chicago Code continued to put up middling ratings (2.1, 7.5 million) and was also flat week-to-week.

CBS had a lineup of mostly reruns including a Two and a Half Men.  Even though star Charlie Sheen continues to make headlines and is at the center of a media storm due to being fired by Warner Bros. Television, it had no impact on the show. Monday night, Two and a Half Men averaged a 2.8 rating in the demo with 10.1 million viewers overall, down about 5% from its season-to-date rerun average. New comedy Mad Love (2.4, 7.2 million) was CBS’ only original for the night, but it was down 11% for its weakest tune-in to date.

For the night Fox averaged a 2.9 rating with 9.2 million viewers overall followed by ABC (2.5, 8.5 million), CBS (2.3, 8.0 million), NBC (1.5, 6.6 million) and Univision (1.5, 4.0 million). Reruns of 90201 and Gossip Girls (0.2, 601,000 viewers) were low for CW.

Has The Event already jumped the shark?  And will The Chicago Code survive the rest of the season?  Only the gods of TV programming and the rating will tell the final story.
