Tips For Before You Go To The Salon From Fantastic Sams

Tips For Before You Go To The Salon from Fantastic Sams

Tips For Before You Go To The Salon From Fantastic SamsThere’s nothing worse then leaving the hair salon and not getting what you asked for. To insure this doesn’t happen to you, simply follow these easy tips from Fantastic Sams master stylist Pat Padilla:

1. Bring your stylist a picture of the hair style you are trying to achieve. According to Padilla, “it’s best if you have the front and the back view of the cut. If it is possible take the face out of the picture. Most people like the face a lot more than the actual hair style.”

2. “If you are going for a drastic change, let your family know what to expect when you walk through the door. Change is very hard for some family members,” advises Padilla.

3. “Always have an idea on how much you are willing to spend before you go into the salon. You will probably need to buy hair product to produce the style at home the next day which can also get expensive.”

4. Lastly, always consult with your stylist on how long it will take you to recreate the same look at home. As Padilla warns, “Woman today don’t realize that some styles are high maintenance. Most women don’t have an hour to spend on their hair.”

American Idol Sends Naima Adedapo And Thia Megia Packing

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

American Idol Sends Naima Adedapo And Thia Megia PackingIn a dramatic gesture last week by the American Idol (AI) judges Casey Abrams was sparred final elimination.  Abrams was as shocked as everyone else that Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler used their one save of the season to keep Abrams.  Ironically their save was relatively early in the AI season.

On Wednesday’s show a sober Casey Abrams who has had a haircut and a shave was told by Jennifer that she didn’t regret saving Abrams and was happy she did so.  The audience seems to love Abrams but it was the audience votes that put him at the very bottom last week.

As a result of Abrams save last week, two AI contestants had to go home this week.  The women continued to fall on the sword with a dreadlocked Naima Adedapo and a long haired Thia Megia being sent home.

Although I was sad to see two more women go, I wasn’t surprised at all after watching the March 30th performances.  Adedapo applied a reggae twist to an Elton John classic song which the judges didn’t go wild over.  Megia also left a lot to be desired with her rendition of a John son.  America made the correct choices.  I actually was surprised Adedapo lasted as long as she did. How To Hair: Victoria Justice’s Barely There Waves

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

How To Hair: Victoria Justices Barely There WavesWhen it comes to her long, naturally straight chocolate brown hair Victoria Justice is not fussy.  She told Nickutopia “I’m not one of those people that spends a lot of money on beauty products. I like going to drug stores and getting that kind of stuff. I blow dry my bangs with a round brush! You don’t want your hair to look flat, but at the same time, I like when it looks really natural!”

Teen superstar Victoria is up against Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Miranda Cosgrove at the April 2nd Kids Choice Awards, but in some circles the  star of  Nickelodeon’s Victorious is considered the one with the very best hair.  Of course others would vehemently disagree.

Although Victoria alternates between bone straight strands and soft beachy waves, her own natural tresses are medium thick and naturally straight.

Hair How To – Step By Step – Recreate Victoria’s Hairstyle

To achieve Victoria’s barely there waves follow the steps below:

1.  Cleanse your hair in the shower using your preferred methodology and hair products which are best for your hair type, texture, length and current condition.
2.  Rinse well and apply a light moisturizing rinse out conditioner from the ears down to the ends.  Use fingers and hair friendly comb to detangle.  Continue reading “How To Hair: Victoria Justice’s Barely There Waves” »

Hair How To: Cate Blanchett’s Short Chic Choppy Blonde Haircut

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Hair How To: Cate Blanchetts Short Chic Choppy Blonde HaircutActress Cate Blanchett is famous for being unpredictable and a true hair rebel.  She’s worked with some of the best celebrity hairstylists in the work including Danilo and Mark Townsend who enjoy working with the trend setter.

Danilo has said about Cate “She looks incredible with long hair, short hair, a dark wig.”

Townsend has said “She always wants to do the opposite” with her hair compared to the current trends.  He noted “If someone’s wearing a couture gown with her hair up, she (Cate) wants to wear hers down.”

She will constantly surprise on the red carpet going with an elaborate updo or simply tousled bedhead hair.  With Cate you just never know what her hair mood will be.  Indeed Blanchett has been a redhead, brunette and blonde at various times in her esteemed acting career.

Hair How To:  Copy Cate’s Platinum Blonde Short  Choppy Hairstyle

If you want to copy Cate’s latest platinum blonde short choppy hairstyle ask your stylist for an asymmetrical and wispy short hair cut.  This haircut can be modified to work with most face shapes, hair types and even natural textures.

An image speaks a thousand words.  To make sure your stylist understands the haircut you desire, print out and take a few large sized images of Cate showing the front, sides and back of  her hairstyle.  Ask your hairstylist  if the haircut would work with your hair type, texture, length and current condition. Supermodel Eva Herzigova Enjoyed Great Hair Days During Recent Pregnancy

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Supermodel Eva Herzigova Enjoyed Great Hair Days During Recent PregnancyPeople.com reports that Czech supermodel Eva Herzigova gave birth to a new baby boy, Philip, born on March 13th.  This is the second child for Herzigova and her partner Gregorio Marsiaj who also have a 3 1/2 year old George.

The Chelsea based model posed for the  April 2011 cover of British Harper’s Bazaar while she was pregnant.  Afterall, the baby bump is the new it fashion accessory for 2011.

Herzigova told Harper’s that she enjoyed some well-known beauty benefits of her pregnancy.  She said “being pregnant is less about being sexy than being sensual…You really blossom, especially in the first three months:  my hair and my skin were in great condition; my breasts were like ‘wow’; it was like I’d had a face lift and breast-enhancement surgery.  It’s amazing re-finding the body that you used to have in your 20s.”

Truth About Hair During Pregnancy

While thicker, fuller, shinier hair is sometimes a pregnancy benefit for some women, it’s not true for all.  Herzigova was one of the lucky ones.  The real truth is that the fluctuation of hormones during pregnancy can impact every head of hair differently.  While some like the supermodel will rejoice over estrogen fueled fast growth and fullness, for others the increased hormones will cause hair to fall out or rebel by becoming oily, lank, overly dry or frizzy.
