She was a contestant in the third series of the British television series The X Factor, which she won.

During her appearance on The X Factor she was famous for her long naturally curly hair which cascaded into tight ringlets down around her shoulders and back.  Many fans of curly hair admired her amazing spirals and ringlets which she showcased on The X Factor.

As Leona’s career skyrocketed her image started to change.  Her natural curls, coils and twists were softened into looser ringlets and waves.  Her hair also become lighter and brighter.

The multi-platinum selling artist and three time Grammy Award nominee also started to change her make-up and style of dress.  In a lot of ways Leona Lewis mirrored the transformation of many of the American Idols.

By the time she was proclaimed Top New Artist by Billboards magazine in 2008 and her most successful single, Bleeding Love reach number one in over thirty countries around the world she looked very polished and like the star she had become.

In November 2008 she set a record in the UK for the fastest selling download-only release with her cover version of the Snow Patrol song “Run” which sold 69,244 copies in two days.

Lewis has released two albums to date, Spirit and Echo, in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Spirit became the fastest-selling debut album and the biggest seller of 2007 in both the United Kingdom and Ireland, and made Lewis the first British solo artist to top the Billboard 200 with a debut album. It has sold over 6.5 million copies worldwide.

Going Bone Straight And Brunette

The songbird has only begun to hit her stride.  Her debut tour, The Labyrinth, took place in 2010 and made her a media and fan darling.   Her overall transformation has continued.

Leona also wore a revealing outfit which showcased her newly trim figure.  Meanwhile, her signature natural curls were nowhere to be seen.

Did the superstar have her hair chemically straightened?  Is she rocking extra hair extensions or is she wearing a stunning lace front wig?

Only her hairdresser knows for sure.
