HBOs Boardwalk Empire Promises Great Writing, Acting, EntertainmentBoardwalk Empire is an upcoming American television series from premium cable network HBO, set in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The period of the show covers the Prohibition era in the early 1920s after the Great War has ended, Wall Street is on the verge of exploding and everything is for sale, including the World Series.

The fabulously talented Steve Buscemi stars as Enouch “Nucky” Thompson, the undisputed ruler or Atlantic City.

The show is adapted from Nelson Johnson’s book, Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City by Emmy award-winning screenwriter and producer Terence Winter of The Sopranos.

Don’t be confused, this new series has absolutely no similarity to the award winning Sopranos.

On September 1, 2009, HBO picked up the series for an additional 11 episodes, making the first season 12 episodes long, including the pilot.  HBO has stated the series will debut in the fall of 2010.
