How To Style Easy Chic Chignon

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

How To Style Easy Chic ChignonJust like every fashionistia has a Little Black Dress (LBD) for special occasions, they need a sleek chic easy chignon to wear with that LBD.  Twisting your hair into a chic sleek chignon is always a great option.

Although the name chignon sounds fancy it really just a type of hair bun which rests at the nape of the neck.  Unlike the tight librarian bun, the chignon is softer, fuller and has a looped look to it.  It is a favorite of brides and celebrities alike.  It is also popular for Prom, Homecoming and similar dressy hair events.

A chignon can be smooth, lustrous and stunning, but very easy to style at home.

Follow the easy styling tips below to create a sleek and chic pulled back chignon:

1.  Cleanse your hair with your normal products and in your normal manner.

2.  If your hair is naturally wavy, curly or kinky you will need to blow dry straight to re-create the sleek chignon style.

3.  After hair is cleansed and 100% dry create your desired part.   Consider a soft side part rather than a center part to create a more sensuous and elegant look.

4.  Apply a light hair cream, pomade, paste or texturizer to smooth hair along the part. Continue reading “How To Style Easy Chic Chignon” »

Curly Hair Jelly – Aubrey Organics Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing Jelly

Aubrey Organics – Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing Jelly

Curly Hair Jelly Aubrey Organics Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing JellyThis product is all natural and is designed to keep frizz at bay without being sticky, stiff or gooey.  Although it’s described as a jelly it’s more like a gel than anything else.

While the product is often recommended for people with naturally curly hair which falls in the 3C, 4A or 4B categories it does not work for all people all of the time.

Product Description
Mandarin Magic Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing Jelly.

Eight hair-nourishing Chinese herbals, plus hair-thickening vitamin B-5 and herbal gums add up to one superb styling product that moisturizes as it holds. Adds body and shine without weighing down the hair.

Directions
After shampoo, dry hair until damp. Pour a quarter-sized dollop of hair moisturizing jelly into palm. Work through hair and into scalp. Groom hair as usual. (Use more if needed for dry scalp or problem hair and scalp).

Product Reviews

Curly Hair Jelly Aubrey Organics Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing JellyThis product is attractive, especially to people with naturally curly hair who wish to go completely natural.  The beauty of Aubrey Organics Ginko Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing Jelly is that it is all natural.  It does not contain any plastics, parabens or silicones.

Some users have found that while the product is useful for creating a light curl definition and shine, it is not as moisturizing as competitive products.  If moisture is your concern you will need to look at other similar products.

One common complaint about this product is that it does tend to flake after it dries.  This is a common problem for gels and jelly products.  The aroma is fresh with a clean orange-like scent.  It does contain good hair slip.  This gel-like product is very light and hair tends to dry smooth not sticky.  It also tends to create a wet look on hair so if you want a fluffier look this product may not work for you.

One initial challenge is learning to use just a small amount.  A little bit goes a very long way.  Depending on the type, texture, length and condition of your hair a little bit goes a very long way.

Ingredients

Curly Hair Jelly Aubrey Organics Ginkgo Leaf & Ginseng Root Hair Moisturizing JellyWater, Panthenol (Vitamin B-5), Aloe Vera Gel, Tragacanth and Gum Arabic Blend, Ginkgo Leaf, Ginseng Root, Chinese Magnolia Blossoms, Chinese Angelica, Chrysanthemum, Earth Smoke, Morus Root, Mandarin Orange Peel, Aubrey’s Preservative (Citrus Seed Extract, Vitamins A, C and E).

Where To Buy
This product is usually sold at various health food stores but the best pricing is often found on the Web.  I have found the best prices for this particular product at Amazon.com.

Bronchitis Recovery The Natural Way

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Bronchitis Recovery The Natural WayAs my story goes…when I was a young child I developed croup.  Over the years it would come and go, usually in the Spring or Fall.  Eventually croup became bronchitis.

As time passed the bronchitis disappeared as well, until a few years ago when I was attending cosmetology school where it returned with a vengeance.

Now whenever I catch a virus, cold or any type of flu, it invariably goes to my lungs where it develops into full blown bronchitis.  I’ve had it verified more than once by medical doctors.  The symptoms are the same and I’ve learned to fight it with natural remedies.

So many people have asked me how I deal with my bronchitis.  I don’t always deal with it well because it literally takes me out for a period of 2-4 weeks depending on how severe it is.  Part of my issue is that I don’t like to slow down and rest.  Duh.  Big problem, right?

Ultimately I make a decision to rest and get plenty of sleep which does make a difference.  Other things which definitely help me deal with bronchitis on a consistent basis include: Continue reading “Bronchitis Recovery The Natural Way” »

All of Carol’s Daughter products contain natural ingredients specially formulated to bring out your natural beauty.

Carol’s Daughter

In the early 1990′s, Brooklyn native Lisa Price (a.k.a. Carol’s daughter) began experimenting with fragrance, essential oils and natural moisturizers to make gifts for her family and friends. Soon after she packaged her home-spun creations, word spread like wildfire and the demand for her unparalleled hair and body care products led to a highly successful mail-order and web-based business.

Within a few years, Carol’s Daughter counted celebrities like Jada Pinkett Smith, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Brad Pitt and Chaka Khan as loyal fans, or as she refers to them, “friends of the family.”

Nature, family and love are words that resonate for Carol’s Daughter and as business expands, Lisa makes sure that detailed care and attention is given to each product. Within every Carol’s Daughter product, whether it’s the Ecstasy Shea Soufflé or the Almond Cookie Sea Salt Body Scrub, the uniqueness of the name is an association with the familiar manner in which the products were born.

In 1999, Carol’s Daughter opened its first boutique in the cozy confines of Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood. The store’s success lead to appearances of Carol’s Daughter products on top national television shows, including The Today Show, The View and The Oprah Winfrey Show. This type of mega-watt attention has encouraged the brand to make Carol’s Daughter a household name – in 2005, Carol’s Daughter introduced new product packaging, an updated website: www.carolsdaughter.com, announced exciting celebrity investors and a highly anticipated Harlem flagship store in New York City .

Even after approximately 15 years of success and expansion, Carol’s Daughter products are still made with love. Each product is still made by hand…just now with a lot more hands. And just as before, the products still carry delectable, fun, and appealing names such as the marquee products: Almond Cookie Shea Soufflé, Tui (pronounced “twee”) Hair Oil, Hair Milk and Jamaican Punch Sea Salt Body Scrub–with a treasure trove of family secrets ready to be experienced.

Last Vampire Actress Allison Miller Prepares To Fly On The CW

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Last Vampire Actress Allison Miller Prepares To Fly On The CWIf you watch any of the reality TV shows dealing with making it in Hollywood, you know that’s it not only hard to nab a role, but keeping your career going can be just as difficult even after you’ve been in a hit.

(Image of Allison Miller – DailyCeleb.com – All Rights Reserved)

NBC had a new show last years named “Kings” and one or the stars of the show was brunette beauty Allison Miller.  She played the stunning daughter.  Sadly the show, which had historical connections, didn’t make it and was canceled.

Allison also showed up as Zac Efron’s beautiful blonde teen girlfriend Scarlett in the movie “17 Again”.  She also had a part in the film Blood: The Last Vampire as Alice Mckee.

Luckily the beautiful brunette seems to be making inroads in her acting career.  It was announced in the Spring of 2010 that Allison was cast in the part of Celine Halstead on CW’s new series Betwixt which also includes castmate Jessy Schram (“Life”).  Continue reading “Last Vampire Actress Allison Miller Prepares To Fly On The CW” »
