Mario Lopez, Jr. (born October 10, 1973) is an American actor who has appeared on several television series, in films, and on Broadway. He is best-known for his portrayal of the character A.C. Slater on “Saved By The Bell” from 1989-1994.

Mario has appeared in numerous projects since including the 2006-2007 season of Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) and as a celebrity guest host for the syndicated entertainment news magazine show Extra. He currently hosts America’s Best Dance Crew, for MTV.

He is also know for having fabulously thick and shiny raven black hair.

Mario is a regular guest on Ellen Degeneres’ daytime talk show and is known to be a friend of hers and her mom off camera.

When Mario was on the Ellen Degeneres Show in January of 2010 he made a point of saying hello to Ellen’s mom since he is so close to his own mom and family.  He told Ellen he loved her mom.  In the past Mario has brought his own mom to Ellen’s show where she sat in the audience beaming at her famous son.

Mario explained that the great thing about being a host on TV’s Extra is that he gets to “travel everywhere and meet all kinds of great people.”

He said his schedule has been “crazy” because he went “from The Golden Globes and started ABDC (America’s Best Dance Crew) with MTV and then Sundance and then I’m going to Vegas with Miss America” as Ellen mentioned.

When asked, Mario said he was not going to “The Super Bowl” because he was “really upset when The Chargers lost” so he “refused to do, he was mad about it.”

Ellen told Mario he should be happy for The Saints (her team) going to the Superbowl.  He agreed he should and went on to say he liked Reggie Bush and that “they’re from the same neighborhood.”

Soggy Golden Globes & Steaming Hot Emmy Awards On Extra Red Carpet

Ellen asked Mario, who was represented Extra at the Golden Globes if he was out under the rain.  He said “yes, I have to tell you that was a wet Golden Globes.”  But he loved it “especially compared to the other awards shows” because “The Emmy (awards) are in the middle of August and the Red Carpet, it is hot! It is like 120 degrees out there.”

Mario talked about some of the most interesting celebrities he’s met and interviewed and he mentioned how much he enjoyed Sophia Loren who commented after their interview “very nice”.  Mario said she was so nice but they had a “quick conversation”

Mario also chatted about ABDC and said “it was their best season yet” and they broke it down “by region” and they have “a new judge” and as their fifth season, he thought it was their best ever.

Expectant Father

Recently Mario announced he was a new expectant father with his girlfriend Courtney Mazza who has thick glossy raven hair.  Can you imagine the hair DNA being passed down to their new baby?  Should be interesting to see.

The expectant parents were spotted out and about on May 5th in New York City.  Besides his new baby, Mario has a new health and fitness book “Extra Lean” which he is currently promoting.

Mario is known to be health conscious and has been announced as a new spokesman for a diet drink.  He has told the media he has high hopes for “chubby, healthy” baby.  He also plans to write another book about fatherhood.  Well at least the timing is right.

About the pregnancy Mario said “She’s doing great. We’re five months along, and she’s looking great, feeling great. I’m trying to feed her as often as I can. I’d love a chubby, healthy baby. We’re very excited!”

He told the media “I was actually looking for a book for a first-time father and couldn’t find one. I’ve decided I’m going to write one of my own. Guys want to help, too. There are tons of book for moms, but dads want to know what’s going on with the lady and the baby both emotionally and physically.”

Mario has said he hopes to have a large family.  He said, when asked if he wanted a large family “I hope so. I’m learning a lot about how difficult it is just to even get pregnant and all the things that can go wrong. I have a new respect for that whole process and miracle of birth.”
