SATC2 – A Bitter Pill To Swallow For 146 Minutes

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

SATC2 A Bitter Pill To Swallow For 146 MinutesYes, I used to love TV’s Sex And The City (SATC).  I realized early on that Carrie was a narcissistic, hedonistic, co-dependent woman who obsessed about sex, shoes and the man (Big) who was wrong for her.

I couldn’t really relate to Carrie, but I did find her entertaining.  I also admired her undying loyalty to her three friends.

Do-Or-Die Female Friendships – Do They Really Exist?

While I personally admired how Carrie valued her friendships, sadly I have rarely experienced the same type of do-or-die friendships – with other females – in my own lifetime.  Even my own baby sister is a classic fair weather friend only popping up in my life during her latest emotional crisis or positioning for gifts for her three kids whom I barely know.

In fact, my guy sweetly volunteered to accompany me to Part 2 of the SATC movie saga after my own “friend” bailed on our years long date to see the second SATC movie together.

My galpal and I saw the original SATC1 flick together.  It was a lovely girlfriends-only treat complete with after the movie lunch and lots of delicious gossip.  We vowed at that time to see SATC2 together.

Sadly, she bailed on our “date” just days before the premiere.  I was heartbroken, but kept a stiff upper red stained lip and decided to go alone, until my sweet guy offered to go with me, even though he knew it was a classic chick flick. Summer Sun, Summer Fun, Summer Safety

Summer Sun, Summer Fun, Summer Safety For Skin And BeautySummer time, summer time… the ice has melted away and now it’s time to bask in the glory of the sun’s glow… or is it?

Note: Refer to Summer Hair Tips and Summer Hair Smarts: Quick Tips To Avoid Sun-Damaged Locks for hair care information.

Skin cancer awareness is glowing this month as bright as the sun – our skin is the largest organ on our body, which may explain why one in five Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer and more than 90 percent of those cancers are due to sun exposure.

Skin Cancer is the Most Common Form of Cancer in the US

Did you know that 90% of skin cancer cases are due to sun exposure- How can you reduce your risk?

Our skin is our largest organ. It protects us from injury, infections, and regulates our body’s temperature.  It stores water, fat, and Vitamin D. But for the one in five Americans who will be diagnosed with skin cancer within the next year, skin is a painful reminder of past sun damage. 1 Million SPF Sunscreens For Beautiful Skin?

Friday, May 28th, 2010

1 Million SPF Sunscreens For Beautiful Skin?Yes, I’m kidding.  I have yet to see any sunscreens with a listed SPF of 1 million.  Will it ever happen?

The SPFs numbers have been spiraling upwards over the past few years.  I have seen SPFs of 100.  Recently when I was shopping the sunscreen aisles in Malibu, California looking for a good sun protection product I spotted several products with 70, 80, 85 and even 100 SPF.

Do you need an SPF with a factor of 100?  Neutrogena makes UltraSheer Dry-Touch Sunblock with a posted SPF of 100.

Note: Refer to Summer Hair Tips and Summer Hair Smarts: Quick Tips To Avoid Sun-Damaged Locks for hair care information.

Banana Boat makes Ultra Defense with an SPF of 85 while Hawaiian Tropic makes the ultimate ozone block of 80.  I actually purchased the Neutrogena and Hawaiian Tropic for my very fair skin and both worked like a charm.

Why are SPF factors going sky high?  Some skin experts believe most people who apply sunscreen to their bodies don’t get the full SPF value as listed on the bottle.

So what is the right amount of SPF to apply?  According to the experts you should pour the sunscreen into a shot glass for the average sized face and body.  If you have more body or skin to cover, you may need 1 1/2 to 2 shot glasses. Summertime Environmental Factors Cause DNA Changes In Skin Plus Advanced Aging

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Summertime Environmental Factors Cause DNA Changes In Skin Plus Advanced AgingEndless hot summer days inevitably bring about the battle to protect our skin. As we unpack our favorite beach blankets and swim suits, we also pull out bulky hats and goopy sun blocks in an attempt to ward off the damaging rays of the sun.

As we know, prolonged exposure to the sun- UVA and UVB rays, pollution, and even wind can damage the skin.

According to a study published in the scientific journal Biogerontology, “environmental factors have been shown to cause major changes in both the structure and biophysical properties of the skin.”

Over exposure to the sun actually changes the DNA of the skin, free radicals are produced feeding off of naturally occurring antioxidants found within the body.

Antioxidants can work to ward off free-radical damage and can slow or even prevent oxidative damage (the aging process) to the body.Summertime Environmental Factors Cause DNA Changes In Skin Plus Advanced Aging

AminoGenesis Skin Care

AminoGenesis Skin Care is leading the way by developing the first amino acid-based skincare line. According to AminoGenesis founder Ron Cummings, “collagen and elastin are both made of amino acids, which are proteins found in the skin. The skin becomes depleted of amino acids through environmental factors and the natural aging process.” Combining plant derived amino acids with anti-oxidants, AminoGenesis has created Perfect Reflection, an all natural anti-aging serum.

By utilizing:

Vitamin A – Improves skin elasticity, texture, firmness and smoothness.
Vitamin C – Protects collagen from oxidation, reduces dark spots, helps the skin remain soft and supple.
Vitamin D – Helps improve skin feel and texture and is an important factor in epidermal cell turnover.
CoQ10 – This element is the spark that helps cells create energy and helps preserve vitamin E.

Perfect Reflection has been proven to repair sun damage, relieve dryness, decrease the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and improves skin elasticity, texture, firmness, and smoothness.

Perfect Reflection

Perfect Reflection: AminoGenesis’ Perfect Reflection anti-aging serum combines four powerful anti-oxidants (vitamin A, C, D and CoQ10) with AminoGenesis’ base formula of 17 amino acids. This silky smooth water-based formula penetrates the skin rapidly delivering moisture and skin-rejuvenating nutrients for the most beautiful, youthful and healthy skin possible!

About AminoGenesis Skin Care

AminoGenesis Skin Care was founded in 2000 after creator Ron Cummings, a longtime sufferer of dermatitis, was recommended a cream for his skin condition.

Once he learned everything he could about that cream he used, Ron decided to make the life-changing decision to end his existing career and enter the unfamiliar business of skincare.

He learned that the cream was actually a potent mixture of amino acids, essentially the building blocks of all life. All living things, plant or animal, that grows on this planet share exactly the same amino acids – it is the arrangement of amino acids that makes everything and everyone unique.

They are the building blocks of every structure in human skin; vital skin proteins like collagen, elastin, lipids and all cellular tissues are made from amino acids.

The basis of the AminoGenesis philosophy is that skin functions fantastically when it is properly nourished and it is with amino acids that skin becomes properly nourished. Several years ago the team of world class doctors, chemists and researchers that Ron enlisted set out to harness the power of amino acids.

After about a decade of research and testing, the original AminoGenesis formula was born and the results astounded even those who created it.
