Aveda Hair Salons Are Consumer’s Favorite Hair Salons

Aveda Hair Salons Are Consumers Favorite Hair Salons BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aveda is consumers’ favorite hair salon, according to a Beauty survey conducted by Market Force Information, a worldwide leader in customer intelligence and customer experience management solutions.

The survey examined where consumers go for hair care and why. It was conducted last month among Market Force’s network of 300,000 independent mystery shoppers and merchandisers – consumers across the country dubbed The Force™. More than 5,000 consumers responded.

Aveda Named Favorite Salon, Regis Lands Three Of Top Seven Salons

Most consumers prefer to visit locally owned salons for their hair services, with seven in 10 citing their local business, driven in large measure by having a favorite stylist in those salons.

Aveda Received Largest Number Of Consumer Votes Followed By Great Clips And Supercuts

But many also use the larger chains. When asked which of the major hair salons was their favorite, Aveda won accolades from consumers across the board. Aveda received the largest number of votes for favorite hair salon in the survey, with Great Clips coming in second and Supercuts in third. Clumping My Curls And Waves Notes

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Clumping My Curls And Waves NotesLately I’ve doing my own personal experiments with clumping my natural curls and waves, trying out a combination of base clumping cocktails and playing with Denman brushes and similar.   I am keeping a detailed notebook with the results of my various experiments.

Clumping, for those who think I’ve lost my mind, is the process of training curls and/or waves so that the strands all wind the same direction and ultimately cascading into uniform clumps of curls and/or waves.

Clumping is easier to say than to do.  At least until you get the hang of how to clump.

Depending on your hair’s natural texture (curly, coily, kinky, wavy), type (fine/thin, medium, thick, super thick), condition (healthy, damaged, superdamaged), porosity and length (short, medium, long or super long) clumping takes some experimenting.

General Curl Clumping Guidelines

While there are general guidelines such as creating a base clumping cocktail, usually a leave-in conditioner and curl forming cream or similar, and plopping, there are a variety of techniques which can be customized. Continue reading “Clumping My Curls And Waves Notes” »

Carrie Underwood Surprises Ellen Degeneres

Carrie Underwood Surprises Ellen DegeneresOn a recent broadcast of Ellen, she told her audience she had “two tickets” to give away for the next American Idol – Idol Gives Back – show.

Since she has become a judge, Ellen’s audience has been constantly asking about getting the tickets which are incredibly hard to locate.  Ellen has said in the past she has no ability to get AI tickets.  However, she said she had located two.  Her audience went crazy.

After Ellen told the audience she had American Idol tickets she called out “where’s my Idol tickets?”  At that moment a Carrie Underwood song played on the loud speakers and Carrie herself came strolling out from behind the curtain.  She looked so cute.

It should really be no surprise to see Carrie with Ellen because they’re both part of the American Idol family.  Right?

Carrie’s naturally curly hair was coiffed in loose waves and curls and topped by a metallic gray fedora positioned to one side of her head.  Her fedora looked amazing with her masses of blonde waves which flow halfway down her back. Continue reading “Carrie Underwood Surprises Ellen Degeneres” »

Will Martin Short Win An Emmy For Role On Damages?

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Will Martin Short Win An Emmy For Role On Damages?Martin Short was recently a guest on Ellen Degeneres’ show to talk about his work on TV’s Damages which just had its season finale last week.

Looking dapper in a fabulous suit and tie, Martin danced with Ellen when he first appeared on stage.  Martin and Ellen were wearing matching striped socks.

Martin told Ellen “this is the greatest thrill of my career…being here today…second only to that magical evening backstage in the late Bea Arthur’s dressing room at the Winter Garden theater where I first became a man.”

Needless to say, Martin cracked Ellen and the audience up which they chatted.

Ellen told Martin he looked great and he told her he was “doing Atkins.  Not the diet, the widow.”  Then he explained to the audience “it’s a routine.”

Martin said “I turned sixty years of age.  It’s unbelievable.”  He told Ellen “I remember turning 24 and being in the shower and writing on the tile in the steam “24″ and thinking ‘wow, I’m old.’” Continue reading “Will Martin Short Win An Emmy For Role On Damages?” »
