How To Rock The Hot New Hair Tendrils Or FringedrilsAlthough it’s officially referred to as a tendril, the thin airy strands which used to float freely around the hairline were banished sometime in the late 90s after a flurry of popularity in the early to mid-90s.

The new and improved hair tendril was front and center at the recent 2010 Academy Awards.  The lovey young Anna Kendrick, nominated for an Academy Award for her role in “Up And Away” was a true model of tendril bliss.

Even though the tendrils of the 90s were usually paired with a classic updo, the new and improved tendril of 2010 can be paired with a soft tousled downdo, an up/down twist or even a low do.

2010 is filled with a new romantic spirit which embodies gowns, accessories, make-up and hair.

The little wispy curly pieces of soft floaty hair have come back out of the closet and are no longer considered a bad hairdo accessory.

Not only did Anna Kendrick rock tendrils on the 2010 Academy Award Red Carpet.  She amped them up for her appearance in the after parties.  Another fan of the new tendril is the gorgeous brunette Michelle Trachtenberg (TV’s Mercy) as well as other Academy Award Red Carpet celebs.

One key difference between the tendrils of old and the 2010 version is how the 2010 model often blends into the side hair to form the longer fringedril.  The fringedril is comprised of a side section of hair which is longer and thicker than the traditional tendril. but isn’t a traditional side fringe.  It’s a combo or both.

Will the new tendrils or fringedrils have any staying power?  Probably.  Once a hairstyle is worn on the Red Carpet it tends to become a new hair trend that gains speed and traction for at least several months if not seasons to come.
