Cat Deeley Doubles Up Her Buns

Catherine Elizabeth “Cat” Deeley was born 23 October 1976.  She is a well-known British disc jockey, television presenter and former fashion model.

At 21, she co-hosted the children’s series SMTV Live, alongside Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. She hosted Stars in their Eyes from 2004 until 2006, and beginning in 2006, hosts So You Think You Can Dance. She is 5 feet, 9 inches (1.75m) tall.

Cat is famous for her lush long naturally wavy hair which she showcases in a wide range of hairstyles and updos.  Cat looks gorgeous whether her hair is worn down in lush ripples of waves and curls or if she wears her hair up in a range of buns, twists and chignons.

Cat recently appeared on the Red Carpet at The Saban Free Clinic dinner gala in Beverly Hills wearing two messy twists which were positioned on top of each other.  Not only did Cat honor her natural wavy texture by leaving lots of waves still present, the twists were polished but still tousled.  Quite an accomplishment.

Cat has such glorious hair there are very few hairstyles she can’t rock.  Her double twist is easy to do.

Follow the steps below to copy Cat’s double twist hairstyle:

1.  On “aged hair” brush hair back off the hairline and direct towards the back of the head.  Keep in mind you will be creating two separate ponytails which will be stacked on top of each other.

Note: To create a bit of a hairline “bump”, backcomb the front section of hair before creating the ponies in back to have that smooth yet sassy bumped up hairline like Cat’s.

2.  Capture tresses into the first pony positioned between the crown and the middle of the back.  Wrap an separate strand around the base of the pony to cover the pony elastic.  Use a “hair friendly” elastic such as a Blax or Bungee in the same color as your hair.
3.  To achieve fullness you can slightly backcomb the pony and then smoothe it down with your fingertips.   Spray with firm hold hairspray.
4.  Use fingers and tuck the tail of the pony underneath and pin with bobby pins the same color of your hair.  Focus on creating a type of puffed up twist.
5.  Capture the remaining hair under the first pony and position it under the first pony between the middle of the back of the head and the nape of the neck.  Allow enough separation between the two pony twists to show them off appropriately.
6.  Repeat  Steps 3 and 4 on the second ponytail.
7.  Once both ponies have been teased, sprayed and pinned to the desired shape, use your fingers to gentle fluff and puff the arrangement to your liking.
8.  Attach any desired hair accessories.

Although this hair twist can be created with a forehead fringe it does look more striking when the hair is slightly bumped up off the hairline.

Quick Cheat To Recreate Cat’s Hairstyle

If your natural hair isn’t long enough you can “cheat” by clipping in two HairDo Clip-on Ponytails and then twisting them into stacked buns.  Viola, quick and easy.
