Miss America 2004 Ericka Dunlap and her husband, Brian Kleinschmidt from Nashville, Tennessee, finished in 3rd place last week on CBS’ The Amazing Race.

Ericka was born December 29, 1981 and is a native of Orlando.  She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida. While attending college at the University of Central Florida, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

In 2004 she was crowned Miss America becoming the fifth African American woman to hold the title.  Ericka was the first African American woman to be crowned Miss Florida.

Erica’s platform was “United We Stand, Divided We Fall Behind: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion.”

Ms. Dunlap appeared on the The Oprah Winfrey Show, Hollywood Squares, Live With Regis and Kelly, and Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor. She  served as Grand Marshal of a NASCAR race and visited the troops in Kuwait, which was her first trip abroad.

Ericka is currently pursuing a career in country music. She married Brian Kleinschmidt on February 18, 2007.  America has gotten to know Ericka and Brian when they appeared together on the 15th installment of the American television series, The Amazing Race.
