Rodney Cutler – Celebrity Hair Stylist And Founder Of Cutler Salons
Rodney Cutler is an Australian celebrity hair stylist and the founder of the three current Cutler salons which includes the first one on 57th Street New York City, Cutler Soho and the newest, The Cutler Salon in Miami, Florida.
Rodney who is a known workaholic has long been a spokesperson for the Redken line of hair care products for years and has his own line of amazing haircare products – Cutler – which wins kudos for all the major fashion and beauty magazine.

I have been hearing about Rodney for years and knew he was the Mane Man for Rachel Ray who he came up through the celebrity ranks with.
Recently I had a chance to chat with Rodney’s business manager and she was delightful.

Beginnings At Bumble & Bumble
Rodney had his beginnings at Bumble & Bumble and has been quoted in the media as saying “working at Bumble & Bumble exposed me to the highest level of hair dressing.”
He has also said with regard to his big breaks that they were “incremental and that one opportunity has opened the door to the next.”
How has Rodney gotten his career to the next level? He has put himself in situations that forced him to push the envelope outside of his comfort zone. He has said “the best way to get your career to the very next level as a hairdresser is to put yourself in work environments that take you out of your area of expertise, whether it’s photo shoots or runway shows.”
Rodney’s favorite hairstyles of all time? The graduated bob “as soon on Louise Brookes” which is timeless. He has also said he loves “Gisele Bünchen’s sexy waves are just so versatile and consumer friendly that they reintroduced curls in a friendly way that is sexy.”
Rodney has the reputation of being a great guy and easy to talk to. He doesn’t put on airs or throw his celebrity hairstyling accomplishments around. He is actually quite humble and down-to-earth.
Besides running his three eponymous salons, Rodney provides ongoing TLC to Rachel Ray, who he has worked with for years. In his “spare time” he writes a very popular blog on Rachel Ray’s website providing lots of great hair tips and musings.
His list of celebrity clients, in addition to the always gorgeous Rachel, is almost too long to include in a small blog. Besides his famous hair creations for a dizzying array of fashion catwalks every year, he jets out to the West Coast from time to time to coif the hair of Red Carpet celebs.
In early 2009 Rodney created the gorgeous “1940s inspired, tousled with loose curls” hairstyle for Fergie’s appearance at the famous post-Academy Awards Vanity Fair Party.
What are Rodney’s trade secrets for great hair? Simply a great haircut to set the stage and fabulous products. Keep your eye out for Rodney since he will be behind the chair in New York for the upcoming Fashion Week in September.

A great hair cut is definitely the starting point. As far as the graduated bob, yes it looks good, but it is everywhere. Short curly hair done right is beautiful. Because most women don’t want to put in the effort, it isn’t seen very often. Great article!
