Major League Professional baseball player Magglio Jose Ordonez (born January 28, 1974) was born in Caracas, Venezuela and is famous for his below-the-shoulder cascade of thick curly tresses which add to his overall mystique.

The right fielder and right-handed batter won the hearts of baseball fans when playing for the Chicago White Sox from 1997 until 2004 when he went to the Detroit Tigers in 2005.

Magglio is currently playing with the Detroit Tigers.

The handsome baseball player is exactly six feet, one inch tall and weighs 215 pounds.

The popular baseball player recently had his beautiful natural curly hair cut and put up for auction to help raise funds on eBay (limited time only) for the Imerman Angels, founded by Detroit native and cancer survivor Jon Imerman.

The Imerman Angels connects cancer fighters with survivors as well as cancer patient care-givers.

All proceeds from the sale of Magglio Ordonez’s hair will go directly to the charity.

Apparently there are many fans of Magglio’s hair since the high bid for clippings from Magglio Ordonez’s haircut was $5,1000 as of Friday (June 26, 2009) night.

The highest bidder for the hair will also receive a bat autographed by Magglio and the use of his 18-seat skybox Sept. 15 at Comerica Park against the Kansas City Royals.

Ironically it was reported by the media that Magglio hit his first home run in two months just a day after his first significant haircut in almost five years.

He was asked if he was experiencing the opposite of the Samson strength-loss effect.  “I’m feeling better,” he said.
