Eliza Dushku Is A True Doll Fighting For FOX Dollhouse

Eliza Dushku Is A True Doll Fighting For FOX DollhouseFormer Buffy The Vampire Slayer Eliza Dushku has a hot new series on Fox titled Dollhouse.  In the new show Eliza plays the part of Echo a programmable human doll who is reprogrammed every week for her latest assignment.

Fantasy Science Fiction

The show could be loosely classified as fantasy science fiction.  Hard core Eliza Dushku fans love the show but the ratings have not been what Fox had hoped for.  As a result, the show is now hanging by a thread and whether Eliza will continue to report back to her dollhouse is still pending.

Fox may or may not take into consideration the fact show creator Josh Whedon created Buffy The Vampire Slayer which was initially generated low ratings.

However, Buffy managed to survive and became a huge hit.  Many insiders believe Fox owes it to Mr. Whedon to give the show a second season.  As noted by many of the critics, the show has continued to improve with the sixth show being the best to date.

The show is also considered controversial due to some of the plots which some critics have condemned as repugnant.  Of course everyone has their own opinion of whether the show should live for another or not.  At this point it’s anyone’s bet.  Fox may not even know what they’re planning to do.

Eliza Campaigning To Save Doll House

In the meantime, Eliza Dushku is stumping hard to save the show.  She appeared completely nude in the current issue of Allure Magazine which also has been considered controversial for a number of reasons.  In her interview regarding her in-the-buff pose Eliza told Allure Magazine that she was comfortable with nudity.

She said “I grew up with three brothers, and I was never shy about covering up. It got to the point where my mom was like, ‘OK, honey, it’s time to put some clothes on now.’”

She told Allure “I’ll strip down to my underwear and my Ugg boots when I eat lunch in my trailer.”  Although the current member of The Dollhouse has done loves scenes in the past which may have required some forms of nudity she is more comfortable posing nude than filming the love scenes.

Why?  Eliza said “Love scenes are much more multidimensional, because often you have two people who have just met and you’re rolling around, and it’s more awkward than when you’re posing alone.”

Paley Festival Panel Discussion

Eliza said in a group interview at the recent Paley Festival in Hollywood “we’re still waiting to hear but feeling neither like it’s a nail in the coffin nor like it’s hope for another season. We’re all waiting.”

She also provided hints about the 12th episode of The Dollhouse.  She said about Echo “she’s about to have some fun and be in some serious pain, which is, I guess, the best of both worlds and the worst. Definitely the end of (episode) 12 opens a door that, in an awesome way, surprised the hell out of me and made me go, ‘Oh, my gosh, there are so many cool and twisted things we could carry into another season.’”

What do you think.  Will Fox save the show for another year or will Josh Whedon and Eliza Dushku close down the Dollhouse?

I finally find a show I actually enjoy watching and in typical network fashion they kill it before they let it grow. Just ridiculous.
