Selecting Best Hair Cuts For Fine Hair

Best Hair Cuts For Fine HairWhen Neutrogena commissioned the research firm Yankelovich Partners to explore “bad hair days,” some years ago the firm found that 90% of female respondents had them.   But what were they? Days when hair is “out of place,” according to 76% of respondents; “flat” hair (63%) ; or limp” locks (58%).  What do you do when “flat and limp” describes your hair type on any give day? Probably, have a whole lot of bad hair days.

Never fear, if you have fine hair, which tends, regardless of the texture (straight, wavy, naturally curly, kinky) having the very best hairstyle to match your hair type will do wonders for preventing a bad hair days.

Keep in mind that many celebrities like Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears have fine hair and look at the amazing hair styles they have rocked over the years.  OK, well except when Britney was having a hair crisis.  But generally speaking the superstar performer does have naturally fine hair.

While Jessica tends to have a natural wave to her fine strands, Britney’s hair tends to be straighter.

Best Hair Cuts For Fine HairThe top hair cuts and hairstyles for fine hair (all textures from straight to wavy, curly and kinky) are listed below in no special order:

The Bob – in its thousands of constantly changing variations. A short bob (ear-lobe length) can make hair look super-healthy and about twice as abundant as it really is. Unfortunately, it doesn’t necessary work with all face shapes.

A bob, especially if cut too short, may not work with a heart-shaped face or a face shape with a strong or soft jaw line. A longer bob may be better.   Shattered bobs are also potential options but again the length must be carefully weighed against the face shape.

The Chop
– in basic bob-length with irregular ends. It gives fine, sparse hair both style and shape and can be very easy to maintain, when cut above the shoulders. It generally works better than a totally blunt cut, which may look limp and lack dimension.

Best Hair Cuts For Fine HairThe Cap Cut – with its all-bangs approach. Best for petite or oval facial shapes.  A short cap with full heavy bangs can look spectacular.  The key is to select bangs which work with your facial features.

The Crop – which really refers to any short, tapered cut. Crops especially look gorgeous on younger women; if you’re over 45, watch out for what they do to your chin and neckline in profile. Also, short crops put so much focus on your eyes, they draw attention to less than flawless skin.  Keep that in mind when selecting a crop.

Best Hair Cuts For Fine HairThe Lightly Layered Mid-length – You can go just to or even below the shoulder with a smart shape and regular trims.

A cut like this can be the very best cut yet. It lightly brushes the shoulders, is cut on a slightly diagonal-forward moving line at the sides and contains a few, light layers, which provide volume when hair is blow dried with an appropriate round brush.

A Lightly Layered Shag – Depending on your face shape and your age, a carefully layered shag can offer flexibility to wear your hair brushed on or off your face.  Keep in mind that if you go with a shoulder skimming or a slightly below the shoulder shaggy look you can find your hair being too thin and wispy throughout the perimeter.

Typically when you think of Made from Earth you think of organic and healthy hair products – but I tried the Tea + Protein Shampoo because even though I have a lot of hair, it is fine and I heard it aids in the strength and vitality of the hair follicles. I have to say that I have loved this product! I even got my mom using it, and my best friend.

I have tried other products of this line as well, and have similarly enjoyed the results!
