Renowned Hairstylist Philip Pelusi Gives More Bang For Hair Bucks

Renowned hairstylist and salon owner Philip Pelusi who has been a hair guru for many years was recently interviewed on CNN.com in an article in the Living Section about Cheap Is The New Chic.

Philip was quoted as saying "has seen the focus shift to more bang for the buck during the economic downturn."

Pelusi said clients "are opting for money-saving tactics like extending time between visits, partial highlights or getting services" on "training nights" for the salon, which can trim their bill up to 60 percent.

"We are doing everything we can to accommodate the clients," said Pelusi, whose Tela Design Studio in Manhattan has only seen a slight decrease in business.

Tela Design Studio was recently named by The New York Observer as The Top Ten Spots For A Spot of Tea in New York. The Arium Cafe which is owned by Philip and is adjacent to his Tela Design Studio was picked by The New York Observer because of the availability of over 100 loose leaf teas combined with a gorgeous setting and friendly staff who "trot out tea leaf samples" for customers to try before they order.

The New York Observer gave Philip the nod because he has so successfully paired tea with beauty offering Tela Design Studio on one side and The Arium Cafe right next door.

Who Is Philip Pelusi?

Voted one of the country's Top 10 Stylists by InStyle magazine, Philip is well known in the industry. He is the owner of 14 salons, including Tela Design Studio in New York City, and S.P.A.C.E. stylist academy.

His line of hair and skin care products are sold at some of the nation's premier salons. He has created glamorous looks for celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Oprah and Diana Lane and was charged with assembling a team of stylists to create "urban edge" hairstyles for models working with fashion designer Benjamin Cho at the 2008 New York City Fashion Week.

More than his mesmerizing personality, is his trademark cutting technique. "Volumetrics" which is a method Philip created to bring out volume, not only with styling, but also by cutting hair based on the texture of each strand.
