Jimmi Simpson As Catholic Priest Touches Dr. Gregory House

Actor Jimmi Simpson (1975 in Hackettstown, New Jersey) had a unique guest starring role on “Unfaithful” the February 16, 2009 episode of House.

Dr. Gregory House played so admirably by award winning actor, Hugh Laurie, is usually so incredibly cynical, few of his patients get to him.

Even though Dr. House has had some real heart wrenching cases that would melt even the coldest of hearts, House manages to remain untouched.

In a nutshel,l the priest basically espoused everything Dr. House already believed about religion.  The priest saw through all the religious facades.

He was a priest version of Dr. House.  They were mirror images of each other and totally “got” each other. In a different place and time, they would have been best friends instead of doctor/patient.

Actor Jimmi Simpson aka Jim-ster played the role of a hallucinating Catholic priest who was suffering from a deep crisis of faith in addition to a list of mysterious illnesses.

Due to the false sexual advance accusations of a “confused” teenage male four years prior, the priest was banished from his original parish to a series of revolving churches.

Ultimately, he wound up in a parish full of homeless people with only a bottle of booze to give him comfort.  His interaction with Dr. House was triggered by the priest’s visions of a crucified Jesus Christ.

In case you don’t recognize the name, Jimmi Simpson is one of those faces you recognize but can’t quite remember where.  Jimmi is a great actor who has had a recurring role on 24 as well as several guest starring roles on TV and in films.  Married to actress Melanie Lynskey (Army Wives), Jimmi plays Lyle The Intern on The Late Show On David Letterman.

Jimmi was fabulous in his role as the dying priest.  There was no doubt he was a Dr. House twin.  Hopefully Jimmi’s guest starring role on House means his career is heating up and we will see him on upcoming films.
