NASA Scientist, Dr. Dennis Morrison – Joins Farouk Systems

Houston, TX – Farouk Shami, Founder and Chairman of the Board is extremely proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Dennis Morrison. He will serve as Scientific Consultant to Farouk Systems concerning new technology applications and product development.

Dr. Morrison joins the Farouk Systems family with an extraordinary background. He holds a B.S. in Pharmacy (1963), M.S. in Radiation Biophysics (1966), Ph.D. in Molecular Biology (1970), Post-doctoral Fellow (1970-72) National Eye Institute and Post-doctoral Research Associate (1972-74) from the National Research Council, National Academy of Science.

He has authored more than 110 scientific papers in space research, immune mechanisms, interferon production, drug delivery, cancer diagnosis & treatments, ultrasound & MRI imaging, radiation effects and protection, wound healing mechanisms and micro-encapsulation of drugs & cells.

Dr. Morrison has been presented with more than 15 awards from NASA (US Government) plus a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2000 from the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy.

He has ten U.S. patents issued and five patents pending in the areas of industrial applied technologies, micro-encapsulation of drugs, and new methods for testing cells obtained from cancer biopsies and new combined treatments for tumors which cannot be entirely removed surgically.

In addition, Dr. Dennis Morrison has founded three companies that specialize in new technology development plus two additional companies specializing in reducing industrial environmental hazards. Also, he served as a scientific consultant to more than ten other companies in various industries.

On Jan. 3, 2006 Dr. Morrison retired from NASA after 34 years of research in health effects of space environments, biotechnology and biomedical applications. Shortly after his retirement, he joined Farouk Systems Team as a scientific consultant.

According to Mr. Shami, “Dr. Morrison’s knowledge of environmental safety will help Farouk Systems develop safer hair products and tools for the hairdresser and their clients”.   This has always been one of the company’s missions but with Dr. Morrison on staff, Farouk Systems will be one of the first in the industry to utilize such extraordinary research in order to benefit our trade.

On a personal note, Dr. Morrison in 2003 married the co-founder of Farouk Systems, Beverly Bernard Morrison. Dr. Dennis Morrison is highly honored to have a role in the advancement of new environmentally safer technologies being developed by Farouk Systems.
